10 years ago, I coached in the Neigborhood Basketball Assodciation Rancho Youth league which consisted of 10 year olds and I graded myself a D and grade MC Clueless under me....
i think he's a pretty awful coach, but not because of the record. great coaches lead bad teams all the time (*cough*larrybrown*cough*). the problem is his coaching. i don't like how he substitutes players; i don't like how he distributes minutes. i don't like the cap on ivo's offense. i don't like the lack of minutes for bynum. i don't like his plays after time-outs. i don't like the offensive schemes they practice (might be an assistant coach's fault for that one). i don't like how they run the fast break. i don't like their half court offense. i don't like how he treats sheed- he should either pull the reins in or trade him. he's taking more bad shots than ever. i don't like their defensive schemes. i think he needs to be more critical of his scorers on man-to-man defense, especially ivo. ivo's great at stealing in the passing lanes, but he's been really lackadaisical against younger, mercurial guards. in short, he's just not a good coach. doesn't take a genius to figure that out. Looks like I appear as the only one (so far) who graded Curry D- Sure, he's a rookie coach and has rotations aren't always great, and yes we are nearly at .500 though look at the good points - we're 2nd in the Central divison, and if the season ended today, we would get in the playoffs..which is good considering he's a 1st year coach. That could all change though we'll have to wait and see won't we ladies and gents.
I think that this has to be my favorite "TFD poll" of all time! I'm trying not to laugh really loud at work right now and it's not working. Well done!!!
I'm gonna take a stab at this but I must preface by saying that: I've never been a head coach OR an assistant for any NBA franchise. F- (grade in previous poll = C-)
It ain't over yet! Listen to Langlois, kiddies. This team is championship bound. They have the talent and Michael Curry is close to piecing it all together. I can feel it.
Interesting to see a "B+" option. All I know is that Jor fires coaches who win 50 game seasons back to back. He has let three of those coaches go. Joe obviously thought they were failing..."F" grade.. Now we have Curry who is 27-27. The Math seems easy to me.
F. Could Curry ever be a good coach? Sure, but not now. Right now, Curry has no idea what he's doing. It's like letting an 11 year old drive. You know they're going to wreck the car, but it doesn't mean that they'll always be a bad driver.
I never worked in the arbitrage department at Goldman Sachs; but, I can certainly grade them, along with a few other programmers that built artificial straw-dogs.
I'm going to wait until the end of next season before I make a determination. He just needs to get warmed up. Figure out where everything is and what everything does. How the ride handles.
