2nd Round Lakers vs Utah Series begins this Sunday May 4th at 3:30 PM Very intriguing matchup pitting the new look Lakers against Darron Williams and the tough Jazz frontcourt.
Lakers in 7 even though I stupidly predicted Utah would get to the Finals. Look for this series to get ugly and Kobe to whine.
The Jazz poor play on the road will come to haunt them in this series as the Lakers will win one on the road and not lose at home to win this series in six games.
Die Lakers Die Even though Lakers won season series 3-1 Just stop Gasol and make Kobe win it. Dancing with the devil ?
You are right there...also keep an eye on Sasha Vulachic (sp) He plays no real D, but just sits out on the arc waiting to toss up a three...You can't leave him open cause he is only in the game to take threes...and he will take 5-6 a game and will hit at least 3 especially in a middle of a Laker run. You got to make him dribble
This series went from being over on Wednesday to a possible 7 game series ending next Sunday. Lakers went to the MVP to much in OT despite his sore back. He could have been a decoy and the guys who got them back in the game could have won it for them...However DFish did foul out I think in OT so was no help in the last two minutes. Even the Lakers radio broadcasters seem concerned after the game thinking that the team whicch was on a high rolling along with an undefeated playoff record was in danger on being ousted in six if they fail to win at home and go back to Utah and get beaten.
Utah had the best home record in the league, so it's not too surprising that they were able to tie the series after coming back home. But they were under .500 on the road, so the Lakers still have the edge. Although if Kobe's back limits him a lot or something else bad happens for them Wednesday night, they definitely will be in some trouble.
Was it me or was that game absolutely awful (officials wise) against UTAH? push offs, boozer getting fouled, goal-tending, etc. esp in crunch time. I don't really care either way. I'm not a huge UTAH fan, and playing them in the finals scares the hell out of me b/c they inexplicably own us, and Sloan is great. Although Jackson is not a very appealing prospect either, but this Laker team has some flaws.
I saw the game too, and the Lakers got plenty of calls to stay ahead, but the Jazz blew a number of opportunities down the stretch. It was actually a good entertaining game. On PTI, they said for the three games ar Staples, the Lakers have gone to the line 131 times compared to the Jazz 74?? Last night's game was 42-28 Lakers Funny the LA Times makes no mention of the Lakers getting the advantage foul wise
I'm curious to see what happens when the Lakers play a team that actually plays defense and rebounds.
