It's called the 4-2 disease. It is clearly a pattern that has to be broken before next year. Is it coaching or players inability to get it done? Is it tuning out the coach at the most critical time? Is it mental fatigue? Is it because the coach is not putting his foot in the players proverbial a** when that fatigue sets in? I mark Larry Brown's heated directions to the players in the heat of battle in games 6 & 7 of the San Antone series as evidence #1 Is Flip just a coach who cannot win the big ones (ala twolves)? Is FLip's playbook too complex, ala Mike Martz?
Timberwolves 04 WCF 4-2 by the way. It's no coincidence. There are many reasons, but Flip is the main reason.
My question is what happen to the EC championship caps and t-shirts that the Pistons have manufactured the past three years under these 4-2 Flip runs? Did they recycle them and change from [strike]2006[/strike], [strike]2007[/strike] and now [strike]2008[/strike]? Did they make new ones each year and then ship the old ones to some third world country? Who is twitching more this morning, Flip, Joe or Sheed? Joe is trying to save face on retaining Flip last season and will be under pressure to make a statement in the next 3 days about Flips last day. Flip is a failure again and will never get to the ECF with any other team let alone the finals. Sheed misses all the key buckets inside and outside...could not stop KG in the 4th qtr. The techs, the referee bashing/bleeping $25K fine and then Hunter and Rip calling him out bout hugging KG proved to be to much a distraction for him I guess? ...if you recall, Sheed missed a key 3 pointer near the beginning of the 4th that may have back breaker for the C's but they went on a 10-0 run to take the game over and in 10 minutes the Piston season was over....
