Lakers in trade talks to get Garnett

    Lakers
    Minnesota
    Boston
    Indiana

Al Jefferson, Lamar Odom, Jermaine O'Neal, Boston's #5 pick, Kevin Garnett

    Sounds like a real shakeup.

    If it happens.

ESPN Rumor Reporting a 4 way trade including the Lakers/Wolves

Apparently a 4 way deal where:

    Lakers get Garnett
Pacers get Lamar Odom and teenage center Andrew Bynum from the Lakers
Boston who would get Jermaine O'Neal
Minnesota get Boston's #5 pick in the draft plus Gerald Green

Source: ESPN - Report: Lakers, Wolves in Garnett talks - NBA

P.S. THIS IS JUST A RUMOR.

Garnett and Kobe would be nice, but it`s not like a young Shaq and Kobe. I still don`t se ethem overtaking, the Spurs, Suns, perhaps even the Jazz or Mavs.

Hell the Nuggets may give them a run.......JO to the Celtics, damn, he would be sent down the descending slope of the abyss...............

I like Bynum and Odom going to Indiana though......I say in the long run Bird got the best of this one if it goes down.

At least they're trying something. I'm not a Kobe fan, but I sure would love to hear a Pistons player say that management ain't doing enough to overtake the Spurs or, god forbid, the freaking Cavs.

By the way, this is not an attack on your post, just a wish that there would be a shakeup in Motown beyond dumping Delfino. Maybe there is one coming, but I doubt it.

    I hear ya.

I guess 'The BIg Ticket" would be enough to appease Kobe. I am just wondering will this move (if it happens) get the Lakers to where Kobe wants to be, in the tough, competetive western conference!

    I say no.

I hope this doesn't happen. I live outside of LA and I love to see the Lakers suffer. putting Garnet and Kobe on the same team may not produce a championship, but will produce ratings, hype and laker lakers lakers all the time and that is just her in LA.) The no love for the Clippers would be pushed back to the local gym....

Kobe may still ant to bolt even with KG coming. not.. I will have to tune on my radio to see what's going on.

I second that motion. I think Joe D. is going to stay with the same team. Look for Chauncey to re-up and Joe to sign C-Webb and Grant Hill or maybe Stackhouse. The #15 pick will also be in the mix. That will be his upgrade.

I think Joe D. will be so disappointed because this team will get handed a 2nd round exit next year if that's the only move he makes is bringing Grant Hill in and the #15th pick. He needs to face the fact that this team has not gotten it done for 2 years in a row now. The run is over and we need to get younger up front. I rather they start Amir at PF and move Sheed to Center than resign C-Webb. I like C-Webb, but only as a role player coming off the bench.

How are the Pacers going to end up with Odom and Bynum? For Jermaine O'Neal???? Is Joe D. asleep at the wheel?

Hard to believe that Garnett would be that cheap in a trade.

One thing thats becomming obvious is the Pistons have not been brought up as even a potential suiter for KG or Kobe.

The Pistons are not a potential suitor until the Billups thing is settled. I don't see a sign and trade with Billups happenin either. We'll sit on the fence til another team signs Billups. Then we'll continue to sit on the fence............

I too wish the Pistons were involved in some blockbuster 3 or 4 team deal that we could relinquish one of our staters for an equal or better player that brings a slasher/penetrator to the Pistons.

The probelm with sitting on the fence until the Billups thing is settled is that if we do, we will be caught scrambling and panicking just like last year to find a replacement and wind up with a Speady Claxton or Smush Parker type to run the offense. :yellowprison:

Dre, quit being so proactive. It's not the Pistons' way. :) Well, getting Sheed was proactive. Would like to see more of that. 'Course, the moves have to present themselves. Maybe nobody is calling Joe D or his phone is off the hook.

AI had a pretty nice setup in Denver and didn't get it done... or even come close. Maybe the guy is spectacular, but doesn't play Championship style ball. In his prime, he almost got his ship, but I don't think he's gonna play like that in the next 3 years.

    Billups, Iverson, Mutombo, Wallace.

    They all need Larry Brown.

And their franchises need a good lawyer to keep him from quitting.

The LA Times, which broke the story, says LA and Minnesota are talking but Boston and Indy are out of the picture.
P.S. Sorry dba, missed your 4:59 post.

Funny the LA afternoon sports jocks had the trade a done deal and were already ordering KG jerseys with the assumption that Kobe would approve. However the drive time jocks quickly brought the rabid sports fans back to earth advising that 4 team trades never come to fruition because you can never get four GMs to agree to something like this. :nerd2:

One of them will feel that they are getting the hosed in the deal. Besides some still think the Kobe will say KG is not enough and he may still want out.

If KG is not enough for His Majesty, perhaps he should demand that the team also trade for Duncan, T-Mac, and LeBron. Kobe needs some more rings, and he can't be expected to wait around forever.
