Only guy we've drafted that I knew of beforehand. Very athletic, but he's not exactly an offensive juggernaut.

Might as well find Sammy Meija and bring him back...

Keydet, Hokie await fate - Roanoke.com

Washington, who said teams are eyeing him at off-guard and small forward, averaged 13.1 points and made the ACC all-defensive team this year. He was one of only three players in Tech history to finish his career with at least 1,400 points, 600 rebounds, 100 steals and 100 blocks.
"The way I'm going to get in the league is by playing defense," he said. "They know I have the athleticism and the quickness to play. I just have to be able to guard people."

This is the only pick i liked. Good value for the 59th spot.

Yeah, that's what he's known for. He's also been compared to Rodney Carney and James White. I rather like this pick, actually.

Dre - Maybe Sammy will join our summer league team?

My favorite pick for us. Play some D, dude. If you can somehow manage to shut down LBJ or something incredibly weird like that then we'll like you a whole lot.

But let's face it we'll probably never see him play. Summer League Hooo!!

He's not going to shut down James. This guy weighs less than 200 pounds. Unless there are huge changes on the roster he doesn't have a chance.

I remember wanting the Pistons to draft DJ Strawberry last year as an athletic defensive specialist. Just from the sound of it this guy seems to be cut from the same mold.

Doesn't sound like a Piston at all.

Washington and Plaisted will apparently be stashed in Europe next year, as Joe "doesn't anticipate having spots for them." Interesting, seeing as we only have like 10 guys under contract at this time.

That article makes things much clearer. If Sharpe's a big SF then that's what we needed. If Plaisted is going to play in Europe then that's good too. The last guy doesn't really matter much.

Sharpe-e is being compared to Donte Greene, a guy the Pistons were apparently targeting, along with Ryan Anderson and some other scrub. Frankly, Greene was the only guy I really wanted us to move up and get. Sharpe-e sounds like a homeless man's Greene.

Lets wait and see what this guy can do. That health issue that he had is something very serious, and if he truly does have a handle on it it is possible Joe got a steal. He's been good picking low in the draft.

A 6'9" 245 lbs SF? As for Washington, how long until he loses his roster spot to Ron Dupree?
