Is Europe a done deal? Why Europe and not the NBDL we got a team right NBA Development League: Fort Wayne Mad Ants so why the hell do they have to go to Europe? Can we wait until after summer league to say who is goin to Europe?
I don't think Pistons believe that NBDL provides an adequate play to develop the youngsters. It's an offense only league and you don't see many of the players actually make it in the NBA.
It is a you do what your told league. If the team wants you to work on your rebounding you best be rebounding. Besides I would think it would be easier for the Pistons to keep an eye on their talent if it was in their backyard and not overseas. Plus they could bring them up if they wanted to.
Or why not pick guys that might actually address their needs, see if they can make the team and if they don't waive them for no $$? That's crazy, I guess, they might get better that way.
+1 This guy sounds interesting, will be interesting to see how he pans out during Summer League. I'd imagine the other two guys will be cut pretty much straight away.
Guys on the nbdl teams count against our roster allocation. That is why they are going to europe. That, and the possibility that they may never play in the NBA at all. Ever.
Some might argue Tay should have earned a ticket as ell. That, and the fact that you pay them NOTHING to play in Europe.
I went to bed after the Plaisted pick, Washington will end up like Acker, Paulding and whoever else got picked down in the basement.
Obviously Joe was Plaisted last night. I would have thought it was a joke if someone told me what happened and I wasnt watching with my own eyes.
The Spurs have the rights to 4 guys that are currently playing in Europe. Perhaps that model isn't so bad to replicate. The risk is very minimal.
If we were coming off a championship and drafting these guys I would be ecstatic. Or perhaps I just wouldnt care. Or maybe....I would be so ecstatic that I wouldnt care. But we arent the Spurs. Grabbing guys just to grab them would put us more on par with the Blazers, or the Grizzlies, since they haven't won anything either. The Pistons are just more refined higher profile losers at the end of the season.
The Spurs have been doing it for YEARS, they don't always win a championship either. Doing this exact thing is how they won championships. Manu and Tony are products of this very way of thinking. Hop off Joe's back and let him do what he does best, trade.
Manu and Tony being from Europe doesnt equate to being "stashed" in Europe. Neither were such scrubs they would agree to hide out in Europe indefinitely while Joe "washes his hair" and "goes out" with other players. Your attempt at an analogy is hardly valid.
Well that diminishes all of their RINGS. Spurs and Pistons aren't even in the same class. Last I looked they tend to snatch up the guys Joe brainfarts on. Thats where the relationship ends.
They did in fact "stash" Manu I know for sure, I believe Tony as well (though I could be wrong on that one). They moved Manu to the states after he was the Italian League MVP 2 years running. So I would say my anology was in fact valid
Plaisted and Washington are currently under contract with Kinder Bolgna? I had no idea. I guess your statement is indeed valid.
Who cares about the #59 pick anyway? What significance does it hold? The guy's chance of making a team is about 0.00000001%. So, why do we even bother splitting hair over this?
