You can't go wrong emphasizing the fundamentals.

Also, before we take another Euro unseen, I would like a leg bloodflow test and a background check to see if winning is acceptable in his culture.

Excellent point BDL on the leg up the wall test. We really don't know anything for sure pre-test. Also that bloodflow test Linwood mentioned could be crucial especially if this player ends up coming off the bench.

On that list of so called "unimpressive" college scoring leaders. One of them has 2 NBA championship rings and Big Dog earned 1.

I agree. Dumars has to score on this pick. I heard the top 4 or 5 players opted to wait so it's really like having the 12th pick and what can you get with that? Either a 2 guard or a one dimensional big man.

I would expect him to either trade the pick or be real conservative with it. if there is someone over 6'10" who can defend right out of the box then that's our guy. otherwise look for trade. I have not heard of any halfway decent PG's at our spot - is there?

A point guard that can drive and dish. That would be a new one for the Pistons. Cleveland State had a nice win over Syracuse, so it's not like all of their success comes against teams like Iona (nothing against Iona).

I like this idea... If anyone can find a good point in the second round its joe.

Say what you want about him but hes been real good at finding late first round/ second round talent.... just dont give him a lottery pick(excluding monroe)

As far as the #8 pick goes, you would think that they would go with a big. I'm fine with that as long as the guy can block shots and rebound. If he can't do those two things, then I'm not interested. If that guy is Biz Markie, then fine. Rebound. Block shots.

I've also thought that Vesely could help this team. However, I'm not sold on him as an instinctive rebounder.

As for Rubio, I love him, but that kid CAN NOT SHOOT. I'm pretty sure I was a better shooter than Rubio in high school. He's like a young Jason Kidd, but a much worse shooter, and that's saying something. In case I'm not making myself clear- Rubio can't shoot.

I don't see how Norris Cole falls out of the first round. I love that kid's game, though. He's a contributor off the bench from jump street.

We'll finally be able to see how Rubio does in the NBA:
AP Source: Rubio agrees to terms with Timberwolves - NBA - Yahoo! Sports

Even if Vesely duplicates Jerebko's role isn't it still worth it to take him even if Vesely is just moderately better...if Vesely has a bigger impact than Biyombo, would you justify picking a worse player just because you have a similar player already?

If I could clone Jerebko and have 4 of him on my team and have a fresh one for every quarter I would. I would be happy with either player but niether Vesely or Biyombo is a guarantee- nor are they guaranteed to be there when we pick. I am guessing some other team will make that decision for us.

It's going to come down to Vesely, Biyombo, and Valanciunas for sure unless Joe likes Motiejunas skill more than JV's length, but I doubt it.

    Chad Ford @ ESPN Insider:

I'm happy with any of those guys except Kemba.

as I said, I'd rather draft another Euro; Biyombo won't be in this league for long imho

Just watched a video of Jonas Valanciunas and the kid looked pretty sharp on both ends of the floor. It was a game reel rather than a compilation of highlights and featured his play from a single game.

Lots of blocks, finishes in traffic and hit almost all of his free throws.

I like what I saw better than Biyombo but what the heck do I know.

damn it, now that I see other teams being interested in him I want him too. This is probably the reason why some people crash at Stock Markets.

Is Ford pretty good at evaluating foreign players?

Dunno about that but I think he's pretty good in figuring out which teams are interested in who.

Ford is infamous on this forum after strongly endorsing Darko leading up to the 2003 draft.

laugh all you want but Darko TODAY is the kind've player we could use.. I actually like his game at current...

If only he didn't hateus so much we could put him next to GM.
