If we had drafted him at say a slot like Max's... the fans, and the team would have had more patience and he would have played up to that level IMO, he just wasn't a number 2 pick in that draft (with the hindsight with have now, we know this)

Is that a young William Wallace with dyed hair? I like it as a second rounder, we could need some of his toughness. Give him spot minutes and let him handle the peptalks.

She seems like she's got the upper body strength to succeed in the NBA.

My interpretation is that she is carrying a lot of excess baggage to be successful....

I like Benson, but Joe does not trust collegiate players from Michigan due to the Mateen factor:)

I am watching the 1986 draft right now on NBA TV. The Pistons had the 11th pick that year and and needed a big guy. Dwayne "Pearl" Washington was interviewed right before the pick and said he didn't want to go to Detroit (Zeke, Dumars and [STRIKE]Roscoe[/STRIKE] the Microwave were already in the back court, so he knew if he were picked it would have been trade bait and he may have missed out in getting drafted by his preferred team, the NJ Nets.

The Pistons went with Salley and he got his first 2 rings a couple of years later and the "Jr" Pearl who was drafted by the Nets, played just long enough to see Salley get that first ring as he was out of the league after 1989.

The NBA Draft Combine is on ESPNU right now, if anyone is into that sort of thing. It runs from 7-10 pm ET.

Any opinions on the ability to trade for Rubio (or the wisdom of doing so)?

I think he'd be even less interested in joining us...at this point...

I'd actually take Jimmer before this guy...

Jimmer is moving up the draft board...

It will probably be harder than what it's worth to get him. I don't see Minny letting him go for fair value after waiting so long and he seems to have regressed somewhat. He's a TERRIBLE shooter, alot worse than J-Kidd and Rondo were at the time. I think Rondo is a pretty good best case scenario for him, great rebounder and amazing passer but not the same presence on defense and alot worse when attacking the rim. If he hits his roof he would probably thrive at a team like the Boston Celtics of today with alot of good scorers. I've read stuff he might go as late as 5-8 if he was drafted this year. I have no idea about the validity in those claims though but his numbers doesn't impress.

Edit: check out his numbers http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ricky_Rubio

That is a dreadful shooting %. He was a winner though and is only 20.

I'll be curious to see if he really crashes and burns in the NBA or if he finds it easier to maneuver with the spacing.
