He's a cat I'm aware of. He's been hovering around the top PGs in this draft most of the season. I've seen him play once or twice. Quick, steady and confident ball-handler, and DEADLY shot, especially with the clock runnin out. Keeps his head, is fairly athletic, has a fair-to-good defensive game (NBA wise), great handles. This cat is a true PG who brings plenty of "O" to the table. You ain't suggestin we pick him with the Orlando pick, are ya?
Sounds like he has a good head on his shoulders. I'm really hoping we can get this guy. No talk about the NBA or future teams, etc, but a good interview nonetheless.
There is no way that Law is there at 15. I am hoping Joe D. will work the phones and move up to atleast Atlanta's 11th pick. He should be there for the taking around that spot. However, we have little to trade now with Delfino gone. I don't think those 2 second round picks in 2009 and 2010 are going to do much in persuading Atlanta to swap picks with us.
Let's face it, if the Acie Law is still there at 14 because the Hawks don't take him at 11, then it is a no brainer that the Clippers will take him...after all how do you expect them to compete when their PG's are an old broken Sam Cassel and a young broken Shaun Livingston. They have to take the best PG available. HoopsHype has them taking Crittendon so if he and Law are gone, we are stuck with Rodney..at 15
I don't think Rodney will be there either. He was invited to be in the lottery green room. I don't think they invite guy's that are going to be drafted in the late teen's there.
Looking at NBA TV's draft preview today, they had the Heat pining for Stuckey with the 20th pick.?? Unless Joe has some private conversations with Boykins about signing him next week, he has to hope that Law or Stucky is available at the 15 or trade up for him...but with who?
Better for us. That means someone previously in the top 10-15 will slip down to us. Joe may end up with a guy that 3 months ago was projected top 10.
I think there is a 90 plus percent chance Law is gone by #15. I think there is a 50/50 Crittenton will still be there at #15. I think there is a 90 plus percent Stuckey will still be there.at #15. I think if either Law or Crittenton is there Joe grabs him for sure. But if Stuckey is there...I dunno. I think he takes him, but I'm not sure.
There are 3 top PG's. The way I see it is it all depends on what NO does with their pick at #13. Conley will be gone in the top 10, that leaves Law and Crittenton. The Clippers will definitely be getting one of them at #14, but we can still grab one if NO decides they don't want a backup to CP3. If they do take a PG, then we will still be getting someone like Nick Young, Al Thornton or Rodney Stuckey. We don't HAVE to get a PG as long as Joe trades for one like Blake, Boykins, etc.
But Joe would need to trade either before or during the draft to assure that he gets a Blake, Boykins etc, since he technically isn't supposed to "chat" with those players' agents until Sunday (7/1).
Acie may be gone at #11. The Sonics are in the process of trading Luke Ridnour to Atlanta for the number 11 pick. Word is, they are interested in Law and Crittenton. They worked out Acie last month, and now are trying to grab him in the draft. Sonics, Hawks work on Ridnour trade
Here's a local (Seattle) blog take on Acie. Supersonicsoul: The unofficial blog of the Seattle Supersonics. Seriously. These guys are very high on Koponen as well.
First I heard about Law's stock dropping Linwood. I wonder if this is a rumor started by the unscrupulus Pat Riley to see if he can grab him the 20 spot?? I love the Seattle bloggers Sonic '"dreams" . "Getting Durant with the second pick in the draft is like hitting the bars with a friend, watching him get the girl you’ve both been ogling, then – while they’re grinding on the dance floor – you bump into a drunk Salma Hayek" what a classic statement Anybody know what Joe's wet dreams are? I would like to know what he is really salivating in this draft. I know his latest statement is that the player at 15 has to make an immediate impact ...which means no darko projects.
The guys at Supersonicsoul.com are hillarious. They always have some great content, and it's interesting following the "other side" of the NBA. The Sonics are almost the exact opposite of the Pistons: They are mostly kids with raw talent and athleticism. They have a very hard time playing as a team. They don't have their own building, and they don't know where they will play next year. This team is in a constant state of rebuilding. We all salivate at the idea of talent and potential, but I tend to think that Joe's dream of experience and character may be a more mature vision, forged by years of Winning Now. like that old joke about the Bulls that I can't type in here.
Here is more on Law dropping (not sure if this was already posted) Law could face draft-night fall - NBA Experts Blog - NBA - Yahoo! Sports
I can't see Law falling all the way down to the Heat at # 20 after all the big pre-draft hype. That would mean the Riles may have a steal and get back to the finals because of some 11th hour negative rhetoric. If Law is there at 15, then Joe has to hope that Law is not the next Rodney white and take him. Don't let him fall in the hands of a contender who picks after you. if anything, grab him for future trade bait it you are on the fence about these latest rumors....
