Not official yet, but likely. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=AiQB65PGIG0pZ79F8YKUGZQ5nYcB?slug=ap-kings-adelman&prov=ap&type=lgns
Yeah. Kind of an odd decision. He got along well with Artest and the team really came on strong in the end.
Extremely odd. That's ridiculous. This is another example of a successful businessman owner who knows squat about basketball thinking more highly of himself, and then makes a bonehead decision. Seattle did the same thing last year and look how far they have fallen.
Adelman is a darn good coach. This is a shame. Someone will benefit by signing him this offseason. He was clearly made an escape goat for the shortcomings of the GM.
I agree with Micro that an escape goat was needed and Adleman fit the bill. Doesn't make much sense unless Adleman dis something like RC did and was rude to the support staff.
Also, I thought that I read that Artest said something like "I will play for free if the Kings bring back Adelman and Bonzi Wells." I can't believe that they are throwing away the chemistry they were able to develop. Oh well.
I agree with everyone that this is a bad move. Maybe the Malouf`s have someone else in mind to hire, someone that may get the axe soon from another team. They are not that stupid to fire a coach like Adelman and not have a plan B, at least I would hope so. Let`s see what happens..........
Hmmm. Are there any hall of fame coaches out there looking for a better job. Any unsatisfied GM's looking for another escape goat, and willing to pay the rest of the contract? Who has deep enough pockets to pay someone to leave... and who has every reason to leave and start "building a team".
LOL, yes it is, but they're referencing an interview that McGrady did during the All-Star break, where he said that he was dealing with personal difficulties by allowing basketball to be his "escape goat." Pretty hilarious malapropism there.
I thought an Escape Goat was what you used to get out of town when people were blaming you for everything. Example:
Very true. Any malapropism used by an NBA player (past or present) stands a good chance of making it into the forum-speak dictionary. Reggie Miller saying that someone deserved "acclimades" is the other popular example.
Ok, I got it. I remember Barkley had a few of those. None come to mind at the moment. Let me think for a few..............
http://www.floridatoday.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060227/COLUMNISTS0306/602270322/1065/SPORTS "Flip Saunders was an escape goat in Minnesota." - Stephen A. Smith, ESPN, April 15, 2005. Stephen A. Smith: Paul Silas was an escape goat in Cleveland. Right before halftime in the NBA All Star Game, Tracy McGrady said that Charles Barkley told him he should use this game as an "escape goat" from all of the problems he's been having lately. We have narrowed this down to Steven A. Smith and T-Mac.
I didn't hear about TMac's "escape goat". That's pretty funny. And that pic of LB is just too damn hilarious! Anyway, I've always loved how Iron Mike once said that after his career he might just fade into "Bolivian". That kills me....
