Somebody mentioned/joked during the draft that it should be obligatory that we each draft a Piston right after I took BenG......I probably should have taken Daye, before Motown did, but kept thinking that no matter how good Daye looked during the preseason...Coach Q would find a way to keep him on the bench...

If Gordon can play 75 games this year, he should be able can enough three balls to make up for any other shortcomings.....he is my best FT shooter per last years stats

I am hoping Beasley breaks out in Minnesota and finally lives up to his college player of the year hype.

The one thing I can see hurting me from the start is the shooting as four of my guys shot under 42% from the field last season.

I only have one guy on my roster that shot under 42% from the field last season. His name is Richard Hamilton.

I am open to all trade offers, by the way. After I picked Durant, my draft kind of went south...

I got down to the end and was thinking I should draft a Piston since I suggested that, but torn between Corey Brewer and Prince, I took Brewer. I thought the name symetry with Maggette would be nice. And I needed at least one player under the age of 40. Traveling today, so to this point my only analysis of what I did is to see that I actually have several options at each position. And to notice that for some reason I took three Bucks.

The problem with taking three guys on one team is when that team plays only 2 games that week, you begin hurting for stats...unless of course they are turnover prone and then you are happy they are sitting.:)

man i had to miss the draft which sucks because i always do well drafting and then having to make very few moves throughout the year. naturally the computer picked a bunch of dudes that i never would consider drafting, like...ever.

so i'm open to any and all trades. i have to analyze it just to see what i have and if i can salvage it.

a light-hearted take on my team:

(1.12) david lee - magically hoping a new system in golden state doesn't negatively affect his stats
(2.13) gerald wallace - china doll who rarely plays a whole season...sure let's get him #13!
(3.36) david west - since when is he a 3rd-round pick?
(4.37) nene - since when is he a 4th-round pick?
(5.60) baron davis - have to hope he shows up this year when he hasn't in 2
    (6.61) kevin garnett - how's those knees?
(7.84) jrue holiday - for real? i have to pray his 2nd-half stats weren't a fluke and he will become a productive guy as one of the youngest players in the league?
(8.85) samuel dalembert - hi injury
(9.108) tony parker - no opinion
(10.109) mike miller - hi injury
(11.132) greg oden - hi injury
(12.133) wilson chandler - never liked him
(13.156) serge ibaka - actually like this one

Warthog, you should have used your two last picks to draft Arne Kander and Mike Abdenuer.

It appears that because the Lakers want to have Kobe well rested for the playoffs and he is coming off his surgically repaired knee, his time will be limited to begin the season. That means my #1 pick may not provide me the necessary fantasy points I need to defeat my first three oponents......

If only I had gotten the one of the first three picks to select either Durant, Lebron or CP3....nope I had the 4th pick and had to select between ball hogs and.or injury prone Kobe or Wade...:yellowprison:

It was either one of them or Darko.....then again...maybe I should have chosen Melo like some other pro team should have done about 7 years ago...:sssh:

lol. I made the same mistake. Thought we always did those on Sundays. I think the computer probably picked better that I would have as well.

Just feel for you guys who were there having to wait the full time for the computer to pick for us.

I believe the way it works is that if the owner is NOT in the room then the computer picks instantly. If the owner IS in the room, it takes the full time allotted because the assumption is that the owner will eventually make a choice.

Re: Advanced League 2010-2011 - Draft Discussion

Have to strongly disagree on the Gerald Wallace statement. This guy is a beast who plays all out. I don't see how he is a china doll. Sure, he misses some games but its none of the Carlos 'mystery' Boozer equivalent. Who wouldn't miss games if they landed on their head trying to swat their 4th shot of the game? How many concussions has he had and still gets back out there?

Last season he increased his career high in rebounds from 7.8 to 10. That's huge. Gee, sounds like I'm helping you out for a trade here Wart, haha.

Oh, and I had Wallace last year so I kinda have a soft spot for him.

EDIT: Oh, and he played 4 complete games (non OT) and 17 other games over 45 minutes last season. How could you not love a guy like that?

Holiday was taken right about where he should be. He is big upside this season. You'll be happy with this pick I think.

Unfortunately I do agree with the rest of your analysis...

I thought this was quite well known before the draft Dre. I had Kobe down a couple of spots on my list because of this. I still think he is gonna be great, he might even get a little more efficient with more rest.

:thumb[1]: I don't know why everyone makes fun of you Drath.

I didn't drop Kobe at all. He will still be a beast with fantasy numbers, irregardless if you miss him the first couple of weeks. He's a solid pick at #4.

I don't think he will actually rest, especially if the game is close. Kobe's just too competitive. Look for the Lakers to try to blow their opposition out quickly. That's the only way Kobe rests.

That was my thought too, but they keep talking about it in the local papers like they will really rest him.. Like I said, if I had one of the first three picks I would have picked Durant or Lebron. I have had Kobe before and he has done well. Not sure if I had Lebron or Kobe the year I won though...

I've been a Kobe hater for years for four of the five years I've followed the NBA. You know what? He played through it. By the end of last year I had no Kobe hate left. I love the guy's game. I would have taken him at #3 this year when all previous years he's been on my "DO NOT DRAFT" LIST. He'll do whatever it takes, knee injury still healing or not, to advance that team and that'll be good for your team Dre. I think it was a great pick.
