Comeon now ladies*? Where's the fun?

Have any of you guys thrown out any ridiculous trades out there? Got any ridiculous trades that you received? I think we should put it here and poke fun at eachother.

    I'll start:

Jeff "I look like a flamingo on the court" Foster for Caron Butler.

I'm not gonna discuss who has who...but thats the offer. Jeff Foster - who's definately not going to show any kind of fantasy value for the young and promising Caron Butler with a new role (that was Hughes)? No dice.

Next: Yao - Carmelo - Felton for Shawn Marion, Peterson, Cassells

To me: Yao + Carmelo stats combined = one Shawn Marion in this depleted Phoneix lineup. Peterson and Cassell (both starters) are not worth a Felton (rookie).

*All in fun and games boys (but seriously I'm gonna whoop all of you).

I noticed that Foster has since been released. That's usually a case of "well, I guess I'll see if I can get anything for him before I release him" trade offer. More of a throw in to try and sweeten the deal. It usually never works.

I didn't even notice who released him, I just saw his name.

    some thoughts

I think that a lot of times the first offer isn't the best offer. I think we're all a bit hesitant to give up too much in a trade and get laughed at for getting robbed, so we offer less than we should in hopes of getting a slightly better counter-offer that we can live with.

The problem with that is that sometimes the original offer is so pathetic that your trade partner is turned off immediatly and isn't interested in a counter.

I've had trades where not 1 player from either side that was in the original offer ends up being traded in the final deal. Its more about opening the lines of communication and seeing who is receptive to making a deal.

Someone who repeatedly denies your trade requests without an explanation or counter offer usually turns me off from wanting to make future trade proposals with them.

But someone who does make counter offers or replies with legitimate reasons (which I was glad Motown encouraged from the start) is someone I'm more likely to deal with in the future.

    Absolutely.

If I had to pick three things that kill a trade it would be:

    1. Poor/No Communication - Rejections with no comments. Offensive comments ...like "Are you on Crack?" lol!
    2. Assumption that opposing team is actually interested in your crap. If you think a player sucks...chances are they do as well.
    3. Forgeting the Golden Rule - You have to come up with a trade that you would accept if you were on the other end. Most of the time, you are not going to swindle someone just lose respect in the process.

And if I may add one more to that.

    4. The key player in your deal goes down to an injury just after you propose it. Man that sucks. That happend to me last year with AK47.

 That is so true. It's very rude not to give someone the courtesy of a timely answer when a serious offer is made. I hope everyone in both leagues remember that.

Point taken. And dammit, someone trade me a center. Caron Butler and Sam Cassell will be worth it!

I don't know if Bogut's worth both of them - considering the signing of Magloire. I'll do a Butler or Cassell + James or Villaneuva deal but not both.
