Michael Curry: Richard Hamilton, Allen Iverson both to start tonight vs. Charlotte Bobcats - Detroit Pistons Basketball: News, Blogs, Photos, Audio, Schedule & Stats - MLive.com
I want to puke. 1. At this point, I don't care who comes off the bench, I wanted Curry to show the stones to demand it. 2. Small ball. Who will be the big? Sheed limping around out there without any help? This is sick.
Well, at least Amir fouling out in 8 minutes will help the best players be on the court as much as possible. Now if we could get a guard other than Stuckey to commit a foul every 2 minutes, all of our lineup problems would be solved. Btw, this is like Curry stomping on my face over and over again.
So, 16 minutes of SB, 32 of big ball? It could work. Our 1st quarters really haven't been the problem this year, even when we were going small. Those guys typically got off to a good start and then got pummelled in the 2nd half, maybe due to fatigue or maybe the other teams adjusted properly. We'll see how it goes. We shouldn't judge it too early because Rip and Sheed will surely still be less than 100%. And bringing Amir off the bench isn't the worst thing. Maybe it will take some of the ref focus off him and let him get away with more. Decreasing Tay's minutes and decreasing Stuck's minutes are both good ideas.
Listen folks.... Forget about smallball. That really doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things. So Curry plays smallball on the 13th of January. Who cares? It's the potential Kowtowing to Richard Hamilton's demands that resonates deeply with me right now. Even if he just did it for one or two games. I would have put his butt on the bench just to show him what's what. Given Rip's reaction to the situation I thought this was a necessary move. This is such a cop out. I am worried that 6 months from now we will be pointing to this moment in time as the tipping point in the team's eventual collapse. He just pulled a Flip.
Does any other team start the game with [STRIKE]two[/STRIKE] three players playing out of their natural positions?
MC's been Flipping ever since he realized SB wasn't working and he kept going to it b/c he didn't want to rock the boat. The only difference is that when Rip was out, the media made Rip comment on the obvious solution (bringing one of them off the bench) and he answered honestly... so now we have someone to blame besides MC. The bottom line is that the coach decides how to use his personel and we don't like the decisions that the coach has been making.
Indeed. Indeed. Man, this really ticks me off. Apparently the age of entitlement continues. For Rip and AI. While we can debate that one or the other should sit, I think it's totally obvious that small ball is a disaster. In fact, I think we have one too many guards who demand playing time even with a big starting lineup. There are only 96 minutes to share between 3 guys who probably want to play 125. And that excludes any development time for Will.Bynum. Let's be real though. This is a problem caused by Rip and AI, neither of which is willing to come off the bench. But Curry just showed us he isn't running this show. I have been procrastinating on updating the front page. This just might inspire me.
Exactly. Equally assinine is tilting our line-up to go against Charlotte, OKC and Indy. I was actually looking forward to this game. F' me!!!!
Ok now i'm going to cry. After everything, SMALL BALL?! I had a feeling this was going to happen after Amir's FT last 2 games. (Which is a problem but the main problem is he isn't playing next to Sheed!) edited to add; I'm so mad. SMALL BALL?! What happened to look our defensive numbers are so great now. Defense is the #1 priority on a Curry led team ? You know what bench both Rip and AI. Start AA damnit.
I guess it depends on your definition of smallball. Personally, I think the only center on our team is Kwame Brown (the only guy 7'0" in stature). When he isn't in the game, we are basically playing with two power forwards. Period. I know people have lowered and adjusted their expectations, and that's cool and all, but come on. It's just the 1,552 (:p) of us here. Let's be honest with ourselves. Rasheed was playing small forward in numerous fan rotations 2 years ago and now he's a big banging center in our books. No. No he's not. Not really, anyway. We trot him out with a 6'9" until proven otherwise virtual rookie and all of a sudden we are displaying our "big lineup". Really? Remember the Phoenix game? We couldn't display a big lineup if we tried. They were murdering us. They made it obvious for anyone that was willing to accept it that we only have one center on our roster. We're a smallball team. I really don't know if it will help much to focus on an issue this current team isn't even built to fix.
I needed to laugh. Is the caption too much? I have the original photo still. You guys caption it, and give me a blurb to put on the image. I'll update it.
