AI to the bench because I do not think rip can handle it.

Yeah I think the same thing NYP. I think AI is going to the bench cause everyone that M.C. named was a starter and now they come off the bench.

Agreed. He can't do that in the starting lineup.

I think AI and Stuckey starting is a great backcourt. However, RIP is fragile and I don't think he is selfless enough to take one for the team and come off the bench. I think he would take it as a personal insult and would be crying to Chauncey on the phone for hours about it and his game would go into the tank for sure.

I think AI would handle it better. He seems to have not complained about being pulled out for Affalo for defensive subsitutions late in games.

I really do think AI wants to win and is sincere about him doing whatever possible to. I agree with a lot of posters about RIP. I don't think he is mentally strong. He lets a lot of little things frustrate him and take him out of his game. Don't think for a second that that is not in the scouting report of opposing teams. That's why you have seen the last 3 years teams getting more physical with RIP and getting in his grill.

you're totally forgetting that rip has been the most stable starter, even in POs where game is more physical.

offtopic: my avatar is Darth and Jammer. It's good not only to hear how forumites sound in podcast, but to see how they look like.

I'm not smart enough to figure out how this jigsaw puzzle will fit together but it does seem like Ai coming off the bench would work.

On the topic of Rip's toughness.

When Dyess got hammered last night you could tell he was in extreme pain...I mean that was real. Why is it that when Rip gets bumped he seems to be acting? Rip needs to HTFU..as they say.

No matter which one we bench, they are going to have to overlap at some point during the game. The logical move is to continue to avoid small ball and make AI the PG when he and Rip are both in the game.

The tough part for me is that AI is a rental and we own Rip. Without AI, Rip is an extremely valuable piece of the team. It all depends on whether or not we actually think we can make a push for the Championship this year. If so, then we may have to hurt some feelings along the way. If not, then we should keep doing it MC's way and keep the vets happy.

I don't think Dyess came back here for an early playoff exit though.

maybe we could have AI ride around on Rip's shoulders and they can be our starting center

MC can save himself a headache in the interim by trying both line-ups for several games and see which combination works the best.

    1. Stuck, AI, Tay, Amir, Sheed for about 2 games
    and then
    2. Stuck, Rip, Tay, Amir, and Sheed for about 2 games

Determine which one flows better and then make a decision. That's my 2 cents.

They have done this the last two games and even the coach sees the improved defensive play of our squad. He has not been able to see a second unit of AI with the second unit with fresh legs but I think it only makes us better.

Rip to the bench. Then trade Rip and Kwame (because we need neither of them to win) to the Lakers for Lamar Odom (expiring contract), that will decrease our payroll by another $16 million dollars in 2009.

Kwame back to the lakers would be sooooo hilarious

edit: if you think we have a logjam at SG, uh, Rip and Kobe?
