    Just was watching WDIV ch4 in Detroit and they had a sound bite of AI talking after practice.

    AI stated that he will come of the bench if the coach asks him.
    He wants to do what it takes to win. He was like what is he going to do? Pout or walk out with the starters anyway? I think I pretty much got it word for word how he put it. I am quite sure that there will be articles refering to AI responding to coming off the bench or links to this sound bite later.

    This makes things more interesting now. This should be case closed. AI off the bench. So why are we entertaining small ball again? Is it that the organization wants RIP to come off the bench? Could it be that AI is just saying all the right things in the media? I don't know. I guess we will see.

    Was it the same quote that was in the article? I think he already said something like that.

    Maybe Curry doesn't want to bench him. They seem to have a strong relationship (back rubs aside)

    edited to add;
    Also it could be image/money related

    I suspect AI has been told he won't be going to the bench. Watch for Rip trade in the coming days.

    I thought in the beginning AI knew it wasn't going to be him, but then i wavered. I'm not sure anymore.

    Even Kevin McHale came off the bench at one time.

    If it is a lie or whatever, At least this time we heard it out of somebody's mouth this time and we won't have 150 posts speculating if it was a sound-bite-or-a-quote-from-an-unnamed-lying-source-that-never-has-any-creditability:confused:

    An at least AI's said in so many words that he was a soldier and he will do what General Curry says/wants.

    Of course the second time I looked at the video the words were not in sync, so now I am wondering if anyone dubbed this to make it sound what we wanted to hear....:MusicBigGrin:

    Joe needs to resign AI and trade RIP.

    Rip = Prima Donna

    Can we stop with this already? AI also said this;
    They obviously both have their issues with a potential move.

    When Eli Z asked AI what he would say about coming off the bench, AI asked "what is the right answer?" Eli said "that for the good of the team I would do it." Then AI said, "well that is what I'd say then."

    Now, obviously, AI knew the right answer, he didn't need to ask. He's signaling that he knows that he has to say the right thing, but wouldn't actually be on board with it.

    That doesn't make me think that he's any more of a team player than Rip. Neither guys wants to come off the bench and until they are forced to do so and comply with it, we have no proof that either guy is willing to actually sacrifice in this way.

    I guess my thought is that there is no "sacrifice" for either player, it's either play during these various points of the game or don't play at all. I guess you can say that they could ultimately sacrifice game checks or love from the fans, but you can't sacrifice minutes, when you aren't in control of who gets what.

    Put it this way: if you're going to be unhappy, do you contribute to your unhappiness by volunteering or do you just wait for someone else to make you unhappy?

    If one is forced to the bench, in their minds, they still have someone else to blame. If one picks out a seat next to Antonio, then they have to include themselves in the angry thoughts that race through their mind.

    I think fans just want to believe that these guys are this or that and when Richard said, "it ain't happening," he popped the bubble. Allen just showed you that he is aware of the bubble.

    If Michael Curry can't make a decision, they aren't going to make it for him.

    It is all speculation by the fans, based on Rip's "it ain't happening"...we imagine him turning into a Piston version of Stephon Marbury, sulking on the bench with a towel over his head, refusing to enter games etc.etc.

    Yeah, he popped the bubble. Before this season, it was always "Detroit is the model for team basketball and the players are so unselfish, blah, blah, blah."

    Now, he has fans wondering. Out loud.
