Iverson enjoys situation, but ... | The Detroit News | detnews.com

Before the trade i thought Pistons need a go-to guy like Kobe, Lebron to win a championship but it turned out that they don't.AI plays like normal player not like $22 million-a-year-player. Hope this is the best way to win a championship. But for now it looks like iverson is a little bit unhappy about the situation.

One player dominating wont win u a championship. CHECK Lebron vs the spurs, he was useless. Check Kobe vs the celtics last year.
Its team play/defense thats wins titles.

one player dominating = no championship.

AI's previous formula was not a winning one.

There is a reason why guys like McDyess and Sheed like playing in Detroit. They get to win, without having to be the man.

I don't think he sounds "unhappy"; I think he sounds 1) honest about the fact that he is making a significant adjustment, 2) like he's got his head on straight about the importance of making that adjustment; and 3) like he's committed to making it in order to win.

AI needs to understand that he needs to follow the mold of Zeke. When the team needed Zeke he took over. AI needs to adjust his game to include everyone, but if other guy's don't have it going or we get in the 4th quarter and are down it is AI time. Time will tell if he can adjust to this. It seems like he is having a hard time not playing 40 plus minutes and shooting 25 times a game. At times it seems like he is too passive and other times when he should be passive he forces his shots.

I think this is reassuring. It means that the team is expecting and has expected Iverson to fit in, instead of building around AI.

The problems aren't "can he", but "will he"?

Will he make practice? It's not about making his teammates better. It's about being accountable.

Will he be able to deal with 32MPG? Or will it become a problem?

If he buys in, the sky is the limit.

Excellent comparison. Maybe they need to get him some vintage Isiah film.

one of the dumars interviews touched on that too... how you need to defer so to speak for the first 3 quarters, but be ready to carry in the 4th... zeke was a me me me scorer to start in detroit but by the time the championship teams came around he could go with 5 points for 3 quarters then explode for 15 in 5 mins.

Depends on the other relationships. AI and Stuckey will keep everyone honest, and Rip will be coming around. These three are your stable points.

Right now you have Sheed, Tay, Brown, Amir and JMax who can not create their own shots with movement. You might say that the gyroscope of stability starts to wobble from the top (3, 4, 5).

Get use to a whole lot of inconsistency, even with Dyess on board.

Thats kind of what I was expecting and still do to some extent.

Especially in tonights game. Tonight would have been a good time for him to take over.

I agree esp since he was getting abused for a stretch there on defense (in his defense, he was OK for the most of the game b/c he was actually trying) If we got AI to be our go to guy, then we might as well go to him.

Also, the small ball line-up only works when AA is in. This Rip/AI pair is frustrating on alot of levels even with Rip's finding his groove on offense
