    Yes

But that was not the year in which he was fired. He was let go during his 3rd season after a slow sub .500 start. Many accused Collins of intentionally trying to get fired.

The season before that right after we lost Houston there was an opportunity to sign Steve Smith who was at the height of his career at the time and Collins passed.

I am so glad all that mediocracy is behind us. At least for now as long as Dumars stays on. If you were a player would you have stuck with the mid-90's Piston team?

    What was Collins problem?

The guy could coach. But every time he stood up he had to feel if had hair. Rumor was the guy was an emotional flake.
