Re: Free Agent Updates Ken Berger CBS A high-level coaching source told CBSSports.com that the job (Pistons) appeared to be Collins’ to lose.
Collins? Collins??? I don't get it. As a coach: 4 winning seasons 4 losing seasons Won 50 games once. Won over 50 games once. Has never won his division Playoff record = .395 In 5 playoff appearances, his teams have been swept in the first round twice. Has made it out of the 2nd round once, and was beaten 1-4 in the conference finals. Why is he considered such a good coach? I'd be equally happy if we brought back Flip.
The same reason why Hubie Brown is considered a good coach. Hubie Brown Coaching Record - Basketball-Reference.com 13 years in the NBA under .500
You have to consider the teams Collins has taken over. He took over the Bulls in their MJ infancy. He molded the Grant Hill Pistons. He is good at taking over rebuilding teams. That ain't going to look good in the win loss column.
In all his years of broadcasting, I've never heard him say anything remotely negative about the Pistons. It's like his entire broadcasting career was one long campaign for the Detroit job.
If we get Ben Gordon, Villenueva, and Bosh (or similar), then this isn't a rebuilding situation. We would need a win-within-2-years coach.
Re: Free Agent Updates Ken Berger CBS Sheed to the Celtics? At least he will A LOT more chances to hug KG. Will be weird to see on TV.
Rudy Fernandez of Portland Trail Blazers draws interest from Europe - ESPN Potential 6th man? I love his game. edited to add; i'm not sure if this is the right place for this. If not, just let me know.

Re: Free Agent Updates Ken Berger CBS Both the media and fans in BOS seem pretty excited about landing Sheed.
A blog, quoting a forum. RealGM has a lot more members than us, and probably a few connected members, but there are literally hundreds of bogus rumours posted year round there. Until something is fact, the quality of the source is important. One only has to ask themselves, why someone in a front office would leak offers to a forum member on the internet. Sure, it's possible, but why would the franchise allow rumours like that without the PR upside of delivering the news themselves? Be cautious is what I am saying. This is the time of year when the BS is knee deep.
Roscoe, I agree 100%. However, at this point every article begins with "a source close to the situation said...". So, we are discussing rumors at this point. But if we didn't have rumors, then what would we discuss since nobody is going to tip their hand and I don't think they are allowed to say much until July 7th anyway?
