That trade sucks. We give up Rip and Afflalo for a backup SF and a Greek appetizer?

I don't like that deal...we'd spend the entire season trying to do the impossible...

    ...winning without Afflalo.

It's gonna be tough as it is without Amir.

I agree, but our players will not foul. Hell, they won't even be close enough to their man to foul so that's a relief. :)

Since the Raptors are desparately trying to free up salary to sign Turkoglu, they are hoping to sign and trade Marion and 2 other players.

What do you guys think about acquiring Marion? What if we sent say AA to Toronto for a S&T with Marion? Combine that with a trade that sends Prince for a center. We could then have Marion starting at the 3. Just a thought.

Exactly!!! But if we can get Marion to play SF $5/$6M that saves us $4M this year.

Why would Dallas want Marion? Where are they going to play him?

He's now an $8m a year role-player coming off the bench. Unless they plan to go big and play Howard more at the 2. Marion needs an up-tempo offense to be productive so he will need to be on the court with Kidd as much as possible. If he is coming off the bench just as Kidd sits down it won't help him much.

Surely Nowitzki won't be playing the 5 full-time? Although, this lineup does look good on paper for star-power.

    PG - Kidd
    SG - Terry
    SF - Howard
    PF - Marion
    C - Nowitzki

    or

    PG - Kidd
    SG - Howard
    SF - Marion
    PF - Nowitzki
    C - Dampier

    6th man - Terry

Marion makes sense for them because Kidd NEEDS somebody who can run the court with him, and vice versa for Marion needing that running PG.

They make sense for each other, but the majority of the Mavs roster doesn't. Though I suspect that Cuban isn't quite done yet.

Yeah the Bargnani extension made me scratch my head too. That was kinda dumb.

BarneyYarney is a big draw in T.O. Not to mention, the front office is very pro-euro. As seen with the initial interest from Turk, for all the downsides for an American to play in Canada, for Europeans, it is a very metropolitan and multi-cultural city.

One more thing. He's 24 years old, and started to establish himself as a 20PPG scorer last year. I think a lot of people sleep on this guy. I had him on one of my fantasy teams last year, and he was really strong in the second half.
