Oh, gosh, I know, but I could hardly resist. I think that after all we've been through with AI, and given his lengthy and tumultous service to the Pistons organization, and his status as a future HOFer now going to join the illustrious ranks of Pistons Pine-sitters past and present, we should take a moment to remember him. I'll get the ball rolling (as AI often does after an opponent's made basket, even when the game clock is not an issue)

Remember when AI through that full court length bounce pass through Grant Hill's legs.

Or when he dove to the floor, mouthpiece akimbo, to challenge Kobe for a loose ball in the Lakers game.

    Fire away...

I'll never forget that breakaway scoop layup to beat the clock in the Laker's game. That was the penultimate moment for me.

His speed, his special talent, his artistic loneliness...

Remember when won the game for us against Oklahoma City. A game we should've been dominating in one sense but he put his armor on and came out and got the win for us.

Didn't we beat the AI Sixers in the playoffs a few years back with an end game goaltend?

I almost want to say it was DC with the goaltend in 02/03.

What I remember is that AI is the one person most responsible for the Pistons run over the past decade.

I was living in Philly when AI was drafted and ran Stackhouse out of town, letting Joe pick up Jordan's heir apparent for Eric Montross, Theo Ratliffe, and a bag of chicklets.

Of course, this freaked out Grant Hill, who thought he was the next Jordan, which caused him to demand a trade, enabling Detroit to trade a bag of broken chicklets to Orlando for Chuckey and Ben.

Which of course led to Detroit totaling sucking the next year, because the players hadn't gelled, and resulted in getting a new coach named Carlisle, and trading the next Jordan, for the next Kobe, Rip.

One more FA, a draft pick, a trade, and one more firing, we've got a title.

And to complete the circle, AI decides to finish his career in the town that he first won a title for. Bravo.
