Am I the only one not excited on Draft Day?

I'm just curious. Is there anyone else who lacks the overall enthusiasm or is relatively apathetic on draft day?

The thought of grabbing another Mateen, R. White, or Darko just never excites me. So few draft picks ever turn out to be difference makers that I just can't seem to get all worked up every year about all the "possibilities" for guys we might get or who's going to do this or that.....

    Am I alone on this?

I have to say I'm somewhat indifferent. I don't like going through all the scenarios, options, possibilities. Draft is, for the most part, a crapshoot. And it is not an indicator of talent evaluation skills. It's pure luck for the most part.

I'm still excited but I know what you mean. Picking some guys we don't know to replace some guys that we do know. There is a lot of talk about wingspans and potential but the ghosts of Mateen and Rodney are hovering around. There was so much pre-draft RW hype that I thought we had a future star for sure...Jerry West couldn't be wrong. Plus the fact that these guys might not even get much pt next year.

I'm not excited at all......I wonder if they're playing a Lion's game on ESPN Classic right now?

Man I'm super geeked about the draft. Joe has shown that when he drafts "mature" guys, he really does know what he's doing. Joe's may have the best draft percentage amongst his peers. If you look around the league there are very few teams that have the Piston success in the draft- from their draft position. Look here's what we know
    First the F-Up's
1-Mateen, strictly a publicity stunt for a brand new GM. Also go look at that draft, who else was there, except Mo Pete...who BTW never turned into a franchise player.
2-Rodney White, A kid who had real talent, but who knew he was a head case. If Rodney had the same type of drive Amir and Tay had, who knows. You can measure alot of things in combines and workouts, but you can't measure the most important thing HEART.
3-DMC, Too much Kool-Aid. If Joe trusts his gut we draft Bosh or Anthony.
After DMC Joe learns his lesson and begins drafting on instinct and not BS. When Joe drafts on instnct we get, Delfino, Memo, Tayshaun, Maxiel, Acker and Amir.....not bad, not bad at all.

I'm excited just because we haven't had a draft pick this high since 2003 (cough cough). And we also have 2 first round draft picks in a draft that is supposedly one of the deepest since 1996. I know Joe Dumars has made some horrible picks like Cleaves, White, Milicic, but he's also drafted some impact players like Okur, Prince, and Maxiell.

I'm excited about pick #57 because it is low risk, low expectation and potentially high reward. The Pistons have made some decent second round picks under Joe's tenure.

    Memo

    Amir

    Acker

@ Low - It would be pretty funny if you were breaking your furniture during the draft.

And before Joe we were able to snag Don Reid with the last pick of the draft.

I am VERY EXCITED about tonight. The deepest draft in recent memory, the Pistons have 3 picks.

I am curious to see whether the pistons are going to move up, down, i.e., who will drop inour laps that someone passed on.

John Thompson, said that this draft is so deep because of the requirement of young players have to go to college for 1 year. As a result, these freshmen moves up, excellent players slide down.

Can't wait until 1900, I am pumped and ready to go.

Only if it's a top 5 pick I would think. Nah, it won't happen.

Wish I could be in the chat :( Hopefully I can pop in for a minute or two.

How can you not be excited about the potential to get some ACTUAL help off the bench?

No more pulling hair out watching Lindsey do nothing for 22 seconds then launch a terrible 3pt shot.
No more banging heads watching Flip get lost on D.
No more Delfino fouling guys with the game on the line.

2 guys who are/should be able to contribute to our bench straight away. For me, that's exciting.
