In the last class of players to enter the NBA directly out of high school there were 8 players. So far the player that stands out in this group would have to be Monta Ellis who showed some flashes of brilliance in last years playoffs. Amir Johnson, of course, was kept under to wraps so we could sign him to a contract.

So how many of these players will end up with solid NBA careers? And what does that say about the viability of drafting high school players?

    Here are the 8:

Martell Webster 6th pick (1st round)

Andrew Bynum 10th pick (1st round)

Gerald Green 18th pick (1st round)

    C.J. Miles 4th pick (2nd round)

Monta Ellis 10th pick (second round)

Louis Williams 15th pick (2nd round)

Andre Blatche 19th pick (2nd round)

Amir Johnson 26th pick (2nd round)

Celtic fans seemed disappointed by Gerald Green. Despite the athleticism and shooting touch, he's got a reportedly bad BBall IQ, weak defense and a weak handle making him a spot up shooter that isn't all that accurate.

I watched Bynum play all of last year. He started pretty fast and then hit the wall. But for his age he still put up pretty good numbers for a guy that only had 338 NBA minutes experience before last year.

    20 MPG
    .558 FG %
    8 PPG
    6 RPG
    1.6 BPG

Last year Cap started coaching him in practice. He will become an all star center.

AJ will also become an all star.

I did not see the other players play enough to comment on their game

I'm seeing at least 5 who will make it. The crazy thing is that 3 of them were drafted in the second round.

Ellis indeed had a pretty good year. Bynum should develop. So should Amir. For the rest I can't say much since I haven't seen them play.

You didn't see him play in the SL? Was on the boob tube and internet. All over the place.

He was scooting up and down the court like he had jets on his shoes. He burned Hot Rod bad in the very first game of the SL. Hot hadn't played organized hoops in quite a while (since March) and Louis took him to school big time.

Louis looked good the rest of the SL also.

So we shall see if it was just the competition or if he has actually gotten NBA better. He beat a lot of guys in the SL with his speed. But his speed ain't any faster than it was last year, so we shall see.

I didnt start following the SL until the second game, really wasnt following Louis Williams either, just noted that in the articles i read he was noted to be quick and effective... also he was saying that this season will be his shot to make an impression

I hope Amir and Louis Williams both pan out. It seemed like that High schooler option was a way for teams to buy a lottery pick.

I don't like Gerald Green for a number of reasons. I do like Monta however.

Indifferent towards Bynum ("Gimme the ****** ball!")

Extremely week highschool class. Monta and Amir are the only ones with any Allstar potential.

Bynum is the next Eric Dampier. And that's not good.

The rest, busts or journey men.

Dampier is better than Nazr and Bynum will be better than Dampier.

Bynum is getting every opportunity, including tutelage by Cap.

The questions is he the next Darko, Kwame or Oden?

Good question and I am going to enjoy every minute of watching him become one of the above or someone else.

Or he could be the next best Tracy Mogan aka Brian Fellows. Personally I think it is a big stretch but my glasses may be fogged.
