You know what, i thought about it.

    Trading Mo Williams for nothing
Trading for and then trading Jefferson for nothing
    Keeping Redd
Taking Yi, then trading him for who again ?
    Drafting powerhouse Joe Alexander
Letting the awesome Charlie Villanueva go for nothing
    Potentially not matching Sessions
    Ukocokoa as starting PG
Trading for "overated" Amir then trading him for "overated" Delfino
A clear direction for the team

It all makes sense now . . .

Genius GM'ing by the Bucks right there.

I agree. This type of move would change the entire makeup of the NBA landscape. Every other GM would try to make a move to counter this trade.

but didn't folks say he was the reason that Dumars was such a good GM for years and was so bad last year?

seriously talking, the purpose of all of it to get team under salary cap.

Instead of mocking, it do not envy Hammond:

Redd -17mil for 2 more years and Bogut 12 for 5 more.

    That is a tough burden.

What do you think the strategy should have been for the Bucks? It looks to me like they are doing a great job of getting rid of salary. Maybe the intent is to sell the franchise or to wipe the slate clean so Hammond can do things his way. If so, I say he's doing a great job. You seem to be evaluating him based on emotional snap judgements of their disregard for your favorite players.

True but why sacrifice to be a garbage team for another two or three years just becuz you want a guy to do things his way?? At least have two or three good/great guys on your team. With the guys they have on their squad, what are they going to do on a nightly basis other than score about 70 points??

It's not just because however. The Bucks have a screwed up salary allocation, and they can't get it done the way they were built. They have to be torn up and rebuilt.

I don't think trading Amir was all about salary since he is an expiring. I suspect his lukewarm Summer League didn't do a lot for him.

There is a lot of competition for roster spots, and with teams carrying less players, guys on the margin (not good enough to start, but paid more than the minimum) will get cut.

    mo williams= overrated, overpaid

    richard jefferson= overpaid

charlie villanueva, ramon sessions = yet to prove themselves, were not
going to be signed too cheap. and i mean, does signing these 2 guys make this team a contender? no.

yi = looked better jumping over a chair than playing in the nba so far.

michael redd= they're only keeping him because it's hard to dump that contract.

    amir= no explanation necessary

i mean, you could take that whole list of players listed above, put them on a team, and prepare to be thoroughly disappointed.

anyway, 2 years from now nearly their entire roster will be dumped and they can hope that Bogut turns out to be a good player and build around him.

This isn't about Amir. In his case this trade is great for him.

MIL's overall moves have been puzzling lately. The getting rid of salary thing doesn't work w/ that trade, and IIRC they were the ones that gave Bogut that overpriced contract. They also traded for Richard Jefferson. They add salary, get rid of salary, add salary. There's no discernible strategy.

Are they trying to build around Bogut/Redd ?, tanking as hard as possible for a chance at the #1 pick ?

Who's their starting PG? Brandon Jennings ? their starting PF, etc

The team as currently constructed is pretty bad, and it's not exactly like they have an overabudance of young talent.

I agree and one Hammond gave himself w/ Bogut's contract. But are they just going to ride out the next two years as a 20-30 win team and hope for the best ? They can't exactly build through FA w/o drastically overpaying as MIL is a tough sell.

Their drafts haven't been great either; Yi, Alexander, etc. and i'm not high on Jennings.

The trade makes sense if you're Milwaukee and believe that Delfino can help the team over the long term and Amir can't. For Toronto, they don't need another SG/SF, and can gamble on Amir.

MLW is screwed this year, but next year they two big commodities in Gadzuric's and Redd's expiring contracts, and they'll have a rookie lottery pick.

I'm curious whose strategy works better, Joe's or Hammond's? Blow up the team now, get some good draft picks and prepare for 2/3 years down the line, or keep the team competitive while still retaining some cap space.

Curious how many NBAers are going to be willing to play in Europe after this quote from Delfino:

"Sometimes, you have those days, those black days, you don't know where to go, you feel stuck," Delfino said. "Hopefully, coming back to NBA, to Milwaukee, to this situation, I can [build] from what I did in Toronto."

Amir was a team best plus 19 last night in his new team's win. He had 12 rebounds in his 22 minutes along with 3 blocks and 7 points. Meanwhile, tonite Delfino is starting for his new team. (He hit a triple so far, minus 1 in his first 9 minute stint.)

Amir with 5 fouls in those 22 minutes. Looks like that is one of his biggest issues still.

We should wait until CV plays before getting too bent out of shape over what Amir is doing.
