I think he was drafted at 6'9" and grew a bit.

It wouldn't fit into the 'hiding him' scheme if we re-measured him.

That's a good point. Maybe I should point out that he reminds me of Tremaine Fowlkes ...yeah...he has that kind of potential. But Fowlkes has a championship ring (probably didn't get one of those belts) and he broke things in the locker room.

Why is he green? Is he a Martian? Is he sick? What gives? Is he a green horn? I don't think anyone growing up in Los Angeles CA, especially his hood, can be a green horn. LOL

    Sorry I couldn't resist.

He needed minutes. He might have able to play with the Pistons, but he would never have gotten the minutes. He would have deferred to the vets and his numbers would have been low and so would his minutes. I think Joe D. is handling this just fine.

AJ is available for the playoffs. I haven't seen the list of twelve for the opener yet.

One other angle to look at is now that AJ has gotten some legitimate minutes in the bigs Joe D. and staff have seen what Amir can do in the bigs. This gives them more good information about what they can try and do regarding trades. I think to worry about these games raising his signing value by a lot is not warranted all. He was still a second round pick. He still hasn't played over 20 or so games in the NBA.

There is a pecking order in all pro leagues on what players can get and rarely is it broken. Unless AJ were to do something spectacular in the playoffs, like Magic did his rookie year AJ will get normal pecking order wages when he resigns with Detroit, though probably at the high end of the range. Nothing to worry about. We all should be happy that he has this much real potential that Joe D. has to fork over more of Mr. D's cash to resign AJ.

That sounds credible. He doesn't look anywhere near 6-11 on the court.

AJ will be on the playoff roster.

He was sent down to the D-League for seasoning, played in the last 4 games to substantiate what we were seeing while playing at Sioux Falls.

AJ will be our Secret Weapon for the playoffs.

Re: PLAYOFF ROSTER SIZE IS 15 - Amir is on playoff roster!

What's the deal with Amir and the Skyforce's bid for a championship?

I thought I heard Blaha in the postgame interview say something about him going back to the D League for the championship?

    Is that possible?

Looks like their schedule ends in April so he'd be back before the second round but then would it be too late to put him on the playoff roster?

:) Ok just kidding about that last question, but I am seriously asking about the D league championship? Did I hear Blaha wrong?

I would like to refer you all to the Pistons' website:

"Johnson, who has grown to 6-foot-11 after being 6-9 when drafted by the Pistons with the 56th pick of the 2005 draft..."

    PISTONS: On-the-Job Training

Now, why would they say that if it isn't true? Is it safe to say that estimating a 2% difference in height on TV is not always accurate?

Dude is 6'11" and is has pogo sticks for legs.

I actually ran into him on the street the other day and I'd guess he's no more than 6'-2". I asked him for an autograph, and he had to put on his 1/2" lense bi-focals to be able to sign for me. After he signed, I told him I couldn't read his handwriting, and accidentally gave him a slight bump, sending him flying to the floor, where-upon his hearing-aid fell off and smashed into a hundred pieces. He then got up and ran off crying, looking for "uncle Joe", then tripped over his abnormally large feet, and one of his orthopedic platform shoes came off.

    I wasn't that impressed.

I was thinking that AJ would probably be a great draft choice in next year's fantasy hoops leagues, though if he puts up some gaudy numbers in the playoffs it could increase his draft value next year.

This whole measurement thing in the NBA is so stupid. It kinda reminds me of the WWF who measured every wrestler 4-5 inches taller than he actually was.
Everyone who has ever seen a picture of AJ standing next to Sheed (a real 6'11) knows that AJ is clearly shorter.

You crazy? His head is almost touching the rim. Sheed's head never does this.

Re: PLAYOFF ROSTER SIZE IS 15 - Amir is on playoff roster!

The good thing about the NBDL playoffs is that they are a single elimination tournament and there are now only 4 teams left. The Sioux Falls semifinal game is on Saturday, April 21 at 8 pm. The Pistons Game #1 against Orlando is the same night at 7 pm, so Amir won't be able to play in both...

    So here's the deal, (IMO):

We don't need him against Orlando so we can spare him for Sioux Falls.

On the other hand, what better time to play him than against a team where we can afford a few mistakes.

Tough call...but overall, I think that if Flip plans to use him in the playoffs, he needs to be with the big boys. If he plans to sit him...let him get the ship for Sioux falls.

Amir looks to be about 6-9 to me. Maybe 6-10. He's poised to be a contributer in the post season. He's talented, determined and too young to be intimidated. Joe has developed Amir nicely. All of a sudden; BAM! Big impact.

I'd love to see Amir posterize a healed-up Darko once or twice. Plus block a shot or two. That would go down as one of life's all-time memorable entertaining moments.
