Never happen. The players we have are too jealous of Darko's skills.

    NEWS FLASH.

Amir Johnson has statistically surpassed Aaron Afflalo as the best defensive player on the Pistons.

Here is how the master list looks.
    Player/ points allowed per 100 possessions/ eFG% allowed

    AJ/ 99.0/ .415
    AA/ 101.1/ .446
    CB+RW/ 102.5/ .472
    TP/ 102.7/ .471
    AM/ 104.0/ .484
    RH/ 105.1/ .478
    JH/ 105.8/ .470
    RS/ 106.4/ .478
    JM/ 107.7/ .477

The beautiful thing is that this isn't just a case of a guy playing great defense, but hurting the team on offense. In fact, the spread between his offensive stats and defensive is +12, with Chauncey Billups as the only player ahead of him with a +13.1.

The amazing thing to me after looking at that list is how bad Stuckey and Maxiell are shaking out (on paper) on the defensive end.

Just want to conclude by pointing out that Amir may have "earned" playing time more than any bench player in Pistons' history. Dang.

Maybe Flip is sitting AJ out for the rest of the season so he doesn't jeopardize this stat.

Someone said Flip sat Amir in the UTAH game b/c he can't play perimeter defense.

    First off that's totally untrue

Ans 2nd, did anyone hear that? I've looked but haven't found any articles stating that.

Yea I was looking at the Player Stats earlier, some other notables:

    #4 in overall rebounding rate
    #3 in Offensive rebounding rate
    #5 FG%

The kid has got the game, but sometimes I can understand what Flip means when he says that Amir will look like hes making a mistake and turns it into a plus. As a coach who is on the hot seat with many nervous ticks that must be nerve raking. Regardless the DNP against Utah is unacceptable.

Such a simple explanation. Thank goodness Flip isn't going off the deep end like we feared.

Of course he wouldn't announce it, becuase it would give the other team an advantage in their preparation (not that they needed it).

Let the conspiracy theories fly...they're covering for the coach! Flip spiked Amir's food!

If a simple head cold is indeed the explanation, I hope people will chill out a bit about Flip reverting to form or whatever. But I would still agree that there wouldn't have been any harm in actually informing the fans after the game about Amir having been too sick to play.

Flip was merely testing us to see how loyal we are. We failed miserably. Now, we have lost his respect and have to earn it back.

Speak for yourself. My confidence in the Flipster never wavered.

    Oh really?

I guess that was more the 8-ball's sources wavering and not you?

They really need to. McCosky (sp?) just wrote "no reason was given", and since he is the Piston's mouthpiece you would assume he would be "in the know".

If that was the case, i take back all the not so nice words i said about Flip regarding Amir. Now i can go back to only being annoyed about his coaching (choking) tactics in the 4th :)

That was all the Magic 8-Ball. I am rarely on the same wavelength with the 8-Ball. I just posted that strictly for the amusement of all the Flip haters.

Nice research by you, though. :)
