This is KJ's comment on the incident.

Still no one is saying anything about if he called management to notify them of his going to be late.

If he called then he shouldn't be fined.

If the tire was bald then this is Davidson's fault for not providing a mechanic to make sure all of his player's and coaches vehicles are in top running order and safe to drive.

If the tire was not bald but AJ just happened to drive over a nail or some other sharp implement then he still shouldn't be fined.

There are of course some things which a player may do which will cause him to be late to practice or miss the team plane and the player should be fined for these.

Partial lists, feel free to add.

    1. Sleeping in
    2. Playing Guitar Hero with a baseball pitcher.
    3. Blogging with McCrispy
    4. Watching reruns of Celtics games from the 1980s
    5. Stopping to get donuts just for himself and none for his teammates.

Some things a player should not be fined for that caused him to miss the team bus.

    1. Sleeping in if he just got engaged or married.
    2. Vehicular breakdowns
    3. Snow storms
    4. Broken GPS system in his car that caused him to take the wrong turn
    5. Watching reruns of the Bad Boys NBA Finals against Portland or L.A.

True, this should be a non-issue...unless there is a team policy that outlines certain procedures when issues of being late or unusual circumstances present themselves.

I think that BillL can enlighten us about what the process was when he played.

[SIZE=-1]That's ridiculous. These guys drive newer type autos and most are not in mechanically bad shape. About the only thing that could go out would be a tire and I can usually change a tire in 20 minutes. If there is some sort of system in place where it is usual for team members to be an hour early (and taking into consideration the time to get to the airport), then their should have been plenty of time. Most of these player wipe their own ass too. If they run out of toilet paper, do we then blame Davidison?

If I remember right, the team supplies the private plane..........Called Roundball iI think. Players should be responsible for their own transportation to and from the airport. These guys are rich enough to hire reliable transportation.

It seems that Blakely for some reason, has a history of not thinking very highly of AJ

While there is some truth in what he says about AJ having to improve his defense it is quite clear from his tone in this article and his comment about the flat tire incident that Blakely has a decidedly negative attitude about AJ. I wonder how it all came about.

It will be interesting to see what negative stuff Blakely conjures up next about AJ.
