There's a summary of Amir's Skyforce stats here. I'm sure he would be averaging a double double if he weren't racking up so many fouls. In 19 games, he is averaging 4.32 fouls in 34.5 minutes. He has fouled out several times. His coach has described him as their go-to guy, so he'd probably prefer to play him a few more minutes. This is clearly something for Amir to work on. Also, here's a photo of Amir postering some guy from last night's game. Both teams wore the jerseys of their NBA affiliated clubs. No matter what kind of numbers he puts up, don't expect Mr. Fobbs to be wearing that jersey in the Palace.
Almost a quadruple double last night. Don't know if it has ever been done in professional hoops or not. My guess is Wilt may have done it but I can't think of anyone else that could have possibly accomplished this awesome feat.
Thanks. I should have realized that Wiki would have something on it. Well only 4 times so it is still an amazing effort. If Amir winds up being as good as any of those 4 or Wilt (LOL) we will have a heck of a baller.
I'm not certain, but didn't the mighty Oscar Robertson *average* a triple-double one season? Then you'd think odds are he would have had 10+ steals in at least one game. Irregardless, still an amazing feat indeed!
With the expression on Amir's face in that pic, it looks like it was snapped just after the guy went prospecting for gold ;)
Sioux Falls is the Detroit/Minnesota affiliate. I guess no one wants to wear a sucky Wolves jersey. GO PISTONS!
The Amir train is rollin' down the track headin' for desinty trail... don't no one get in the way... including Joe & Flip.
Good point. He could have had several games or more with 10 steals, though getting 10 steals is pretty hard, even for someone that was as good at the "Big O"
PERFORMER OF WEEK: On assignment from the Detroit Pistons, Amir Johnson of the Sioux Falls Skyforce has been named the D-LEAGUE.com Performer of the Week for the second time this season. Johnson recorded two double-doubles over the weekend for Sioux Falls, averaging 27.5 points, 15.5 rebounds, 4.5 blocks, 4.0 assists, and 2.0 steals. He shot 19-of-30 from the field and 17-of-18 from the line. Sioux Falls is 16-3 when he is in the lineup. THEY SAID IT: "He's really matured mentally, too. Those numbers are legit. He's playing against legit players." ... Pistons coach Flip Saunders told the Detroit Free Press about Amir Johnson's impressive play in the NBA D-League.
The Skyforce-Stampede game that starts at 9 EST tonight will be streamed live here. The feed is up and I'm watching the warmups right now.
See how inconsistent he is. He should win that award every week if he was consistent. LOL Good job AJ.
Thanks Lurker, the feed is sweet. Seems like the camera man had his eye on a couple of cheerleaders for a lil bit longer than usual there
