That's the problem with aggregate stats - one big game can throw everything off. This guy is a model of inconsistency.

    DraftExpress: Inside the D-League

Amir Johnson, Sioux Falls Skyforce/Detroit Pistons
    18.4 pgg, 8.4 rpg, 3.2 bpg

Johnson has excelled in the D-League this season, and won D-League Player of the Week honors for his play last week. Due to his high level of athleticism and strong body, Johnson gets a lot of his points inside, where opposing players can’t match what he brings to the court physically. Johnson has started to display the ability to knock down the mid-range jumper, and his back to the basket game is slowly improving. At the of 19, Johnson’s upside as a prospect remains very high, and the time he has spent in the D-League has clearly benefited him. He could potentially be a hustle type player for the Pistons within the next two years, but he has the potential to be a starter in the NBA down the road if he can polish his skills. Defensively, Johnson does need to work on being more physical, and he needs to use his body to rebound rather than relying on his natural leaping ability.

Will Blalock, Sioux Falls Skyforce/Detroit Pistons
    7.0 ppg, 8.0 apg, 4.0 rpg

Blalock has done a good job distributing the basketball, and creating plays for others since being assigned to the Skyforce. The biggest the thing he will need to work on is shooting the ball, particularly from 3 point range. If he can become passable in this area, Blalock should certainly have a future in the NBA as a third point guard. He was outplayed by Pooh Jeter in his last game, but he has kept his turnover numbers surprisingly low.

The most telling stat is that the Skyforce are 10-2 with Amir playing, and 12-14 without him.

Blaylock is back and will be joining the team in LA as reported by NBA TV this morining.

With LH out another 8 games, I guess Joe thought that he would give the kid another chance to prove himself. Lets hope that if he is dressed, that Flip gives him a chance to play.

With Sheed now officially in tech limbo game-to-game, I wonder if Joe's thinking about bringing Amir back too. Let's hope so.

Man do I feel sorry for Amir

He gets to come home today, to beautiful sunny and warm (87 degrees today) Southern CA to see his family.

Then he has to go back to Sioux Falls and some hotel room? with the temperature so low it puts ice on ice cream.

Well, hopefully this climatic torture will only toughen him up some more.

    :hoops:

YTD he is averaging 1 TO every 10 minutes. If the whole team averaged 1 TO every ten minutes that would be 24 TOs a game. Very high indeed.

Does anyone know if he has small hands, because that can account for an higher than normal turnover rate among big men.

Or maybe it is lack of concentration.

    Are most of his turnovers

    When he is

    1. Holding the ball, and it is knocked out of his hands.
    2. When he is dribbling
    3. When he is passing

Hopefully he can improve in this area.

    :hoops:

You look at turnovers vs. your points scored and your assists. In other words, the more you handle the ball, the more you are expected to turn the ball over.

the d-league is played at a much different pace though. there's a LOT more possessions per game, so turnovers per minute are going to be reflected accordingly.

So Amir's not gonna be joining the team unless we have injuries... man that's dissapointing... and if he keeps dominating he'll get some serious shoppers... I could see a team like the Nets throwing the whole MLE at him.
Let's hope Joe knows what he's doing.

Looks like the last D-League game is on the 14th of april. That gives Amir a window of 2 weeks to rejoin the team and get in some meaningless games at the end of the season.
