"It isn't about 1.7 million. It's about the big picture, and how it increases Joe's overall spending power in the free agent market as well as the trade market this summer.

Some of you are overlooking the forest for the trees." Cloud

Exactly. Those making the argument that we should keep a guy that isn't going to play 6 minutes a game and bypass an opportunity to use the additional funds to sign an impact player are myopic.

Same with the idea of packaging him with some combination of our picks tomorrow to move up in the draft, for what? Outside of maybe 3 guys there aren't any guys in there more valuable than a free agent that will deliver 18-8 or 20-9 a night. I'd take the young proven veteran 6 days out of 7.

Hey...don't poke fun. If he gets meaningful minutes, the Bucks will have a 100% winning percentage.

    Re: trade value

I was a big Delfino fan and was disappointed he was traded...and for 2 2nd rounders! But Joe and Co have a closer look at these people day to day and if they figure that's the value of a particular player...I'm inclined to believe it.

I think that Amir's going to put up some huge numbers for a short time and then kinda fade away from the spot light.

If Milwaukee gets very very lucky, maybe he morphs into a poorman's junkyard dog...

He's like Mikki Moore without the heart...

Amir had a chance and he didn't take full advantage of it.

The only thing that bothers me about this trade is that, in general, I'm against trading a player who is still growing.

The way things were going I don't think it's such a big deal one way or another. Given the production and the time on the court can't wait forever for the "expectations" to materialize. So Joe just cut the lose end.

Wasn't Amir the last pick in the draft (or close to it)?

I don't see how becoming a starter after only 60 some games off the bench is coming up short of expectations.

In that respect, he greatly exceeded expectations. The guy was in the D-League for 2 full seasons before even getting a locker at the Palace.

Most of the hype and expectation boosting was done by Joe Dumars, Flip Saunders, and Michael Curry. Once they convinced me of his intangibles and then the 2 year results of the team playing the best with him on the court and the worst without off the court, I started to believe what they were telling me.

Even today, Curry was making comments that Amir did things that we need and that we were a better running team with him on the court.

But, if Joe is under the strict mandate that we can't exceed the cap by 1 cent and losing Amir allows us to get somebody like Bosh, then I'm OK with it. If it is to get mediocre players, then I'm bored by it.

Why would Kwame Brown opt out by the way?

...Amir will still play for the Pistons Summer League team each year though right?

No dramas T. The trade is just a taste of what is round the corner, and its got us all worked up a bit. The uncertainty. The drama. Its a good time to be a Pistons fan.

Those might be PFers in disguise. lol

My friend, it is not about Amir. It is about the free agents they are going after. I suspect, based on what Joe did with Oberto, we are going to have a bench full of guys who are making the league minimum. Some may be rooks, and some may be vets, but since second rounders and undrafted players are your absolute cheapest options, I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of green players on the bench this season.

Man that's it, Bucks are winning the championship next year. Amir Johnson was our secret weapon. Even though he wasn't on the team in '04 his intangibles helped us win. Rumor has it that Amir attended the finals games in LA that year.
