Lilja for boarding. I wish some Oil fan would go all Tie Domi on him and crash the penalty box. There are two things you can't be in Hockey. Dumb or slow. Lilja is both. When you read this Supes, I wanna know why Cory Cross is not playing.
Well, I think Llilja has better offensive stats than Cross. I'd almost rather see Wooley out there than either of the other two. But in Babcock's mind, the 6th D spot was between Cross, Wooley, and Lebda. I think Lebda has provided some badly needed speed from the blue line. Aside from Kronwall, he's the only guy we've got back there who's under 30. Although I've been high on Kronwall since he was a rookie, I'm not sold on him right now. But, let's not push the blame. The blame sits firmly on Legace and the Offense. That final goal Legace let in last night (game 3) was pathetic. I hadn't seen a goalie turn his back on the play since Ken "Red Light" Wregget. Bring on Osgood. I honestly don't think Babcock will do it, he's too stubborn, but I think it would help. And the offense needs to stop shooting from the perimeter and penetrate. Rololosn is mediocre at best, and the Wings are making him look like he should be carrying the Conn Smythe. We have all of the "hall of famers", but they look like the Phoenix Coyotes out there. Can you say Deja Vu?
I didn't see the last goal. If it was as bad as you say, then Manny should be out. Btw, the original (and in my mind only) "Red Light" was Andre Racicot of the Montreal Canadiens. Oh, and I like Kronwall. At least he is active. The Wings simply aren't as tough as Pronger, Smith, Smyth and Peca. Even Homer isn't playing "his game" and Shanny getting abused by Pronger outside the crease was a sign pointing towards retirement IMO.
Just to give you the opdate on Legace's last goal: He made a save to his left and was way over on the left side of the crease. The puck went around the back of the net, and a D-Man was there to get it, but Legace sped across the net, to the right side after turning 180 degrees toward the back of the net to get there. Then, the Oilers stole the puck and centered it. Legace was expecting the play to head down the ice. He then turned back towards the left side of the crease, 270 degrees mind you, toward the back of the net again, and tried to make a back hand save with his glove as the ouck flew into the goal. He could have simply turned 90 degrees and been square to the shooter. I like Manny, and I wish him the best as a NHL goalie, but I like the Red Wings collectivley better than I like Manny.
Well,we made our bed with Manny. I wouldn't mind if Osgood took the last game. The bars are going to miss a lot of cash if these guys don't punch their way into the Finals.
