I just looked at my fantasy team, and Sheed has missed 8 games with a strained calf. 2 weeks. 15 days. And he will miss tonight's game too.

    I ain't buying it.

Are these guys tanking down the stretch or resting up for the playoffs?

Because I don't buy that Rip, and Sheed and AI are all out and they are all hurt. Some, maybe. All of them probably banged up so far.

But 8 games for a calf strain? Do I look this stupid?

Calf Muscle Strain in Depth - Calf & Shin

Calf strain that are Level 1 take a few weeks to heal. Level 2 4-6 weeks. A Level 3 or a complete tear takes surgery and months of rehabilitation.

So yes, the injury could be legit. I believe though that there is no rush to get anyone back because the organization needs to get a look at what these young guys have because the roster will be turned over. Who to keep, who to trade, and what positions need upgrading are decisions that need answers ASAP. Lack of player development over the last few years is finally come to fruition.

By definition any muscle pull or strain is considered a tear, just a little tear in the tissue. If it was a full tear Sheed would be under the knife already.

There was an interview with Sheed sometime during a recent game. He said that the tear was fully healed and that he was working back into playing shape.

    I don't think I dreamed that.

I think it is widely understood that you play your way back into playing shape. Even if it's 10 minutes, then 15 minutes, etc you play your way back.

Very few guys come straight out of camp or practice at full speed.

The whole thing seems fishy. I will be pleased as punch if everyone comes back and we destroy all comers in the playoffs.

I will be really pissed if these guys sit out and half ass it to the end of the season.

Funny how you don't include AI.

Yes but I have made at least half of a dozen comments, in the 2 or 3 threads we already have on that.

It would be redundant to make another thread about AI sitting out.

This is about Sheed or Rip. Rip I will give, is a warrior. But Sheed? 8 games with a calf strain? Because he jumped for the first time in 4 months?

    C'mon man.

I would say something ain't right, but pretty much everything is pretty bizarro these days. Dice says they don't practice, then Curry says they need practice. No one on the Pistons will talk about AI, but AI is supposedly rehabbing after games with Arnie.

I gotta know. Is it going to be another 4 man chat tonight for the first half, or is there something to get excited about?

The only thing I'm excited about is we slipped to the 7th seed, while Orlando moved up to the 2nd seed. Problem is we are only 1 game ahead of 8th, and there is no way Orlando can catch Cleveland for first.

I agree that something is a little weird lately with three dudes (making 40 million) who normally play through injuries sitting out like this.

    4 person chat? ...man.
Might be time to bump the "hi" thread again ros. We need some passion up in here (good or bad).

Folks, save the apathy for the Lions!

I'd hit the chat with ya'll but I DVR the games so I can fast forward through all the commercials as well as halftime.

The 7th seed thing may be leading them to be more cautious with these guys. I don't know how they could be so certain that Orlando would end up in the 2 spot though.

When these guys were out during the huge 7 game win streak earlier there seemed to be a lot of false starts about what game they would be back.

It sucks for us, but they may have no reason to win now if they're eyeing the Magic.

Yes they are sitting out because they're not playing, but no they are not tanking.

I drafted Francisco Garcia in adv league without knowing he suffered a calf strain a couple days before. I figured no big deal...then he missed the first 17 games of the season.

Is there a game tonight? :brick:

The whole thing seems suspicious but I don't know what the end gain would be. We would have to lose most of the games to have a shot at not making the playoffs and thats depending on Charlotte or Milw winning enough games to make up the 3.5 and 4 game differential - respectivly.

Developing young guys? Stucky would be playing anyway. Not like Amir Johnson is getting burn. So who else? Maxiel - should know about him by now. Kwame? - unlikely. AA? - They could have just played him over Herman.

I don't know what the plan is. I don't think there is a plan.

Would Sheed be a warrior if he was a black hole who constantly called for the ball, only passed as a last resort and waited for his teammates to help him on D?

The plan is, to quote an eloquent [strike]leader[/strike] person in a leadership position, "C'moooooon. Guys. C'moooon. Do da stuff. C'mooooon!"

I wouldn't characterize Rip like that. I said he was a warrior for playing at a high level all the time.
