With the hire of Kuester and possible trading of Rip for an expiring contract like Boozer, and the fact that we have Kwame coming off the books next year we are easily better than any other team that can offer for James, and it's clear that he finally wants to win.

    C: FA/Trade
    PF: Vil/Max
SF: (James)/Sharpe/Jerbeko/Washington/etc.. (Possibley package two or three of them for a great 6th man.)
    SG: Gordon/Afflalo
    PG: Stuckey/Bynum

This involves that we trade Tayshaun for a center, preferably a young, but proven one wth a low salary.

Here is how I see it.

He grew up in Ohio. The only way he leaves there (and becomes a trader) is if he can go to a big market and get paid well beyond his NBA salary. If he was that attached to Kuester, Cleveland would have made him their head coach.

Past this year, he has zero chance of winning a championship. Cleveland has no prospects or young players and we do.

But he would make more money by going to NY and getting $0 salary than he would coming to Detroit for the max. Maybe that is an exadduration, but there is a dynamic like that at play.

Also, leaving your hometeam/ home state is forgivable if you go to NY (like Farve going to the Jets), but leaving for a rival ruins your rep (like Farve going to the Vikings).

1.First he hates Detroit and we hate him.
2.Lebron only need money so he will go to NY.
3.We don't have the needed cap space to get him.
4.Dumars isn't that dumb to get him.
    5.Again we hate him.

He stated that his goal was to become a $1B man.

Even if he want to why would we get him? Isn't like he got a Championship ring to his credits. :pound:

Maybe if we had a large expiring contract (Boozer) we would be able to sign a star in 2010...But I wouldn't build dreams around 2010.

I'm not a pessimist but I don't think we are in the running to sign Lebron in 2010.

Hi Albo, welcome to the forum.

You make an interesting case, but the supporting cast you've listed is no better than what Cleveland was able to put around him recently. I think LeBron would go to play for one of his olympic buddies in a big market. Lakers comes to mind. They'll be way over the luxury tax, but what if Buss can convince both Kobe and LeBron to take a little less cash to play together? <Weak link>-Kobe-LBJ-Gasol-Bynum in LA is a much much more appealing proposition for his kingness.

I heard he gets a huge bonus from Nike if he signs with the Knicks.

    So expect to see this.

It's possible that Detroit might very well be his 30th favorite team to go to.

I hate to say it, but nope. Cleveland and New York both have much more to offer him than Detroit does.

However, if enough teams were to get in a bidding war for Lebron, that can only help the Pistons in going for the myriad of big-name free agents next year.

The only way Joe gets LeBron here is if he also can sign Wade. :pound:

wouldn't it be funny/sick though if James, Wade, and bosh all decide to sign for cheap dollars someplace... If the players were really all about winning as much as they would like us to think they would.

Can you imagine the 3 of them showing up at the Hornets office (picked NO because they have what i would want as my PG) and saying sign us all at the vet min?
