    Congratulations!

    :first:

Nice thread title. Sure to start a riot. Strangely, when you read the article, Arroyo doesn't blast Brown at all.

    Are you bball jay's cousin? :P ;)

    perfect!

Sounds like a breakout year is in store for Arroyo.

This is starting to shape up like a perfect scenario. Hunter will be out for the first bit, giving Arroyo a chance to get some minutes and it gives Hunter a chance to stay fresh.

Come playoff time, Arroyo will be confident in this offence and will be a great backup for CB and we'll have a fresh Hunter ready as a defensive specialist for the playoffs.

I definately think the title overstates things a bit. Although he didn't mention Brown by name, he definately implied his dislike for LB's system and coaching style. Hardly "plastered him to the wall" though.

It looks to me like Arroyo was speaking from the heart. Also i kept telling you guys he wasn't the Arroyo I saw before and he was on a leash. I keep saying this is the "Year of the Ya... I mean Arroyo":eyebrows:

lol, in fact, I thought the article was talking about Arroyo's problems adjusting to systems where there were some constraints...not Brown's coaching style. I like Arroyo, but this isn't street ball after all.

Some players don't like certain styles, has nothing to do with the coach, just the style. Grant it, going from Sloan to Brown was probably a lateral move in terms of head cases in Carlos' case, but he still had his opp to dohis thang baby. The PuertoRican PrettyBoy still needs to move his feet on Defense and stop reaching, and lastly NEVER FOUL A JUMP SHOOTER!!!!!

Could he be a liability? There's a more lethal chance now that New York might make the playoffs with the acquisition of Eddie Curry...

Larry knows our team and ESPECIALLY the faults of our young guys (arroyo and darko). I think Arroyo might become a playoff liability if he gets too much freedom to play his way since Larry's speciality is eating away at guys like that (i.e Beno Udrih last year in the finals) and forcing turnovers.

Its the same reason why Indiana plays against us so well too. Ricky C had the Pacers overachieving and took it to the Pistons more than expected.

But then again - new offensive/defensive system this year with Flip so gotta be optimistic. Also, who on New York's a really good defender on the guards? Bah I overanalyze too much, GO PISTONS!

    Arroyo a liability?

We'll see. I see CA bringing a change of pace off the bench and he will thrive under Saunders. Mark my words.

I saw you online when I posted, and knew you would make a beeline for this thread. Thanks for the laughs bball jay. You've got a pretty good sense of humour.

@Arroyo liabilities. I think CA can and will get better. Remember that this guy has bounced around and hasn't had time to get "into" a system with any level of comfort. He's under contract for 3 more seasons.

Arroyo may not seem like the prototypical Pistons PG yet with the new Flip systems we could be undergoing a makeover as a franchise and creating an environment that better suits his strengths rather than exposing his weaknesses.

i think Arroyo might have broken out of LB's doghouse if he had another year to develop. just like Chauncey had a rough learning curve, Arroyo would have done the same..... i think.

i just remember Arroyo in the playoffs when he FINALLY drew a charge and was FIRED UP. the crowd was going ballistic and he was as well. i thought to myself that "this is it...Arroyo's finally going to get some PT and get a chance". LB even came out and said Arroyo would get more time through the playoffs.

    never happened.

That book was retired...I heard it from a reliable source who also gave me 356 Piston lineups sans Lindsey Hunter. :clock:

TC is just starting and the NY Media is preping for the Marburry/ LB battles... interesting comment from Chauncey... makes me believe the time was right for LB to move on.

    NY Daily:
Chuancey Billups said 'I am just glad it's over. One way or the other, I just wanted it over and move on. I am sure he's happy it's over, too. It dragged on too long.'

Yesterday, Marbury grudgingly admitted that he had talked to Chauncey Billups during the offseason, and you just know Brown had to be Topic A. Billups once compared his relationship with Brown to "two trains on the same tracks, heading for each other."
Is it just me, or do I hear two train whistles blowing?
"I'm not going to get into all that," Marbury said when asked about his talks with Billups.
But others who know Brown's demands, and Marbury's game, hear the whistles.
"It's going to be the biggest problem in the beginning," said Mike James, the Rockets' guard who played a year for Brown in Detroit. "Steph will be like, 'I'm used to doing it my way.' And Larry will be like, 'I'm used to doing it my way and my way has won.'

"You have to have mental strength to play for Larry Brown because he breaks you down, mentally, then builds you up the way he wants you to play the game," James said. "You have to be submissive."

No, but his wife is pretty hot though. I wouldn't mind seeing her cracking the whip.

its one thing to have a specialty as a coach, its another to have the players to able to carry out your plans. i don't see any capable pitbulls in nyc.

i like arroyo and i'm giving him every chance to prove himself. he should be able to rack up six assists in 15 minutes per game, especially running around with dice and darko in the 2nd unit.

btw, any faults larry thinks these young guys have will prove to be
    a) misguided
    b) wrong, and
    c) oops...
