I decided to start a thread where we could all post articles from web that deal with NBA and Pistons to avoid starting multiple threads.

Here's an article from boston.com that talks about happenings in NBA and it has a bit on Pistons as well.

Joe Dumars isn't spending any of his free time these days watching video of Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals.
"That's called self-mutilation," he wrote by e-mail, referring to the game in which LeBron James pretty much beat Dumars's Detroit Pistons single-handedly.
It still peeves him that the Pistons let it happen. Detroit has been on a remarkable run -- five straight appearances in the conference finals -- and Dumars already has a game plan to keep it going. First order of business: re-sign Chauncey Billups. Next up, re-sign Amir Johnson. Huh? Who?

Pistons president Joe Dumars won't get to spend much of his summer vacation lounging beachside or playing tennis. He has work to do. Lots of it.

Dumars has alluded several times to a lengthy handwritten list of items he wants to address in the coming months after the disappointment of losing in the conference finals for a second straight year.

Just how the Pistons will look after this summer of change is impossible to predict. But if Dumars has his way, it will be a team that's younger, hungrier and ready to compete for a championship in 2007-08. And it all depends on the next 30 days.

I guess he was to lazy to check out AJ's work at Sioux Falls this year. Doesn't matter he will get to see a lot of him this coming year against the Celtics and on ESPN.

An overview of draft busts:

Whenever a guy turns out to be a draft bust, we automatically want to blame the team that picked him for not foreseeing it. But in reality, it's not always the team's fault.

Example: let's assume Kevin Durant goes No. 2 to Seattle this week. Now hypothetically fast-forward seven years: Durant is averaging 9 points a game as an injury-riddled backup, Joakim Noah has a championship ring with the Bulls, and Brandan Wright is an All-Star. How could you possibly blame the Sonics for taking KD when they did?
If they would have chosen Wright or Noah or anyone else, they would have been crucified by the media and fans. So it's not always the fault of the front office; sometimes it's just bad luck, injuries, or an uninspired ballplayer who makes them look bad. Looking back at some of the more recent memorable draft busts, it's a mix of guys whose bust status falls on their own shoulders, and others where blame falls on the team that picked them.

Of cource, HVC makes the list.

As I'll say again, you know Drew Neitzel who somebody will probably draft next year despite the fact he's a fidgit?

Drew is older than Darko.

2007 Global Games kick off week-long international basketball competition | pegasusnews.com

Basketball fans can get their fix as the 2007 Global Games get set to dominate SMU’s Moody Coliseum for a Sunday-to-Saturday stretch of all-out international hoops from July 1 – 7. The week-long event will feature more than 15 games showcasing some of the world’s most promising 22-and-under young players (most are athletes headed to or already playing for Big 12 NCAA teams – and some hail from the Dallas/Fort Worth area). Open to the public, tickets are now on sale for the tournament, which is presented by GameStop, PrimeTime Sports and the Heroes Foundation (see next page for game schedule and ticket prices). Individual tickets are $3 and $5, and a tournament pass is $15.
Highlights of the week include two major exhibition games. The USA Basketball and China National teams face each other Sun., July 1, at 5 p.m. (expected to attend with the Chinese National Team will be Yao Ming, a 2002 Global Game alum and 1st-round draft pick for the Houston Rockets).

Chris Webber is as unsure about his future in the NBA now as he was when the Detroit Pistons were eliminated in the Eastern Conference finals earlier this month.
"It's only been a few weeks, so honestly I'm just resting and letting things happen,'' the five-time All-Star said in a telephone interview. "I just don't know what I want to do yet and I have to be fair to everyone possibly involved.''

With the NBA draft on Thursday, the New York Daily News took a look at some of the high schoolers who went straight to the league -- at least back when they could. Not surprisingly, 1998 Pistons second-rounder Korleone Young was one of the not-so-good examples.
"In Young's case, he had his mind set on turning pro as soon as possible," Ohm Youngmisuk wrote. "But the 6-7 forward played in just three games (for the Pistons), averaging 4.3 points in the 1998-99 season before being released."
Since then, Young has taken sociology courses at Kansas and played overseas. After stints in Russia and Australia, he's entering his third year in China.
"He is not giving up, and we are not giving up," said his mother, Kim. "He is only 28 years old. We have no regrets."

Sure, Milicic could turn into a Serbian Jermaine O'Neal for another team. Or he could remain the Darko Mystery.

"Showing flashes to getting the job done every night -- that's what sets guys apart," Van Gundy said. "Everybody in this league is capable of having a great night. It's the guys that do it night in and night out that are valued."

Lewis would do it every night. If you can't have it all, that's the guy you take.

I think we all know who the shot by Van Gundy went to.

Who are the Piston players that get it done night in and night out?

Chauncey disappeared/ got exposed in the Playoffs, right?
Sheed comes and goes.
Tay puts on his invisibility robe every other game
Dyess... shoots 27% the first 1/3 of the year, goes on a tear for the 2nd half and then goes cold in the playoffs.
CWebb- 0 points in several playoff games
Nazr is pretty consistent(ly bad)
Flip Murray- streaky scorer? not really.
Lindsey- The most consistent with his bricks

Rip... pretty consistent.

Who is the most consistent center < 25 years old in the NBA? Dwight Howard maybe... although he led the league in turnovers.
