    I have two concerns.
First and foremost, hopefully the balls don't ping the wrong way and some team behind us moves up and knocks us out of the draft.

If there is no GM in place by draft day are we confident in Gores and Joe's former assistants making the right draft choice?

I saw that Simmons paragraph on Gores. You know what, it didn't surprise me one bit. In the longterm it probably would be good, but it may signal more treading water.

Joe's hand would really be tied if he were in some cube in the back office and there was another sales process.

It seems like his best bet will be to continue to reap the rewards from being an owner until he sells it in 10 years for an astronomical sum.

    Nick Stauskus?

He ain't selling. His team has effectively posted 30% year on year growth for 3 consecutive years, effectively outperforming the US economy by a factor of ten. The next TV rights deal will drive valuations up, not down. If he sells, it will be after the new TV rights have been negotiated and before an expansion. Ideally after the next CBA too.

The expectations of the next TV rights deal is already included in the current valuation.

Yes, but expectations aren't worth as much as the benjamins.

And its all about the benjamins.

Not sure what you are trying to say but the expectations of the benjamins are included in the current valuation.

There will be a discount for uncertainty until it happens. Also, if Gores waits until we are back on top, that could net him a few hundred million more.

Or a few hundred million less, that's why there is a discount for uncertainty. If the expected future price was between the valuation today and the valuation today + a few hundred millions, the valuation today would quickly rise to close to the valutation today + a few hundred millions.

I'd feel more comfortable with these numbers if you'd convert them to per-48-minutes.

I'm just glad these poor owners can scrape by now that they have this new CBA.

    Free at last.....

Its sad that there isn't a CBA for starving college kids like Shabazz Napier.

I hate to be anti international, but if you have not seen the guy play with your own eyes, then you don't select anyone where their name and prospect is mentioned in the same sentence. We did that in 2003 and who on the Pistons really saw Gigi play before the season started?

You do realise that the discount rate falls when uncertainty falls, right? So when the benjamins are in the hand rather than in the future, the price effectively rises?

Therefore, you would wait until the new TV deal is signed because you don't have to include a discount rate. Except the MoTown discount.
