season finally begins - Roscoe's hard work has paid off!!! finally - we'll get answers about "starting 5" or "clueless Q??" or how versatile is daye (in PF position)! yeah, our forumites finally get their answers - I'm sure it was all worth of wild speculations, mindless rants, flaming wars, ignore lists, bans and forum upgrades GO PISONS!
I don't know why the NBA would bury this matchup behind the scrub teams that they opened the season with. They must be sandbagging while they negotiate the new CBA. Should I be rooting for a win or are the Pistons still tanking for the # 1 pick?
Gotta tank right out of the gate. Get the #1 pick before the lockout. Let him play in Europe for a few years until the NBA starts back up again. We'll have ourselves a talented rookie with international experience.
Yeah they looked beatable tonight, can't wait until Bosh bruises his elbow or cuts his chin....out for 2 months. Wade will run into the scorers table and throw out his shoulder. When this happens, Lebron will be all alone again. Of course, I love the opening game and chat. And because I am a lucky girl....it is parent/teacher conferences. So I will be late, but I will be there.
I just looked at the injury report on pistons.com. Only Wilcox listed as probable, with a sore hammy. (and of course JJ and White) Which means our dressed guys tonite will be: Bynum, Stuckey, Rip, Gordon, Tay, Daye, TMAC, Summers, JMAX, CV, Ben Wallace, Monroe. Of these, TMAC (still trying to regain strength in legs), JMAX (sore knee), and Bynum (sore hammy), did not play the last few games of the pre-season. Ok, we know what Kuester is going to do. Disastrously as might go: Stuckey, Rip, Tay, Daye, Ben Wallace start. Stuckey, Daye, Summers, Monroe, Ben Wallace is how I would go instead. Our bench, if Bynum is healthy, will most likely be: Bynum, Gordon, (Daye, or Tay, or Rip at SF), CV, Monroe. (With JMAX used as an afterthought upon seeing our interior D collapse at light speed) My bench would be: Gordon, Rip, Tay, CV, JMAX. On defense, CV would be told to stay near the basket, and let Rip, JMAX, and Tay help him out if his guy goes out to the perimeter, or any perimeter rotation is needed. (This worked fine when Corliss was here.)
Good points Lee but I think Coach Cluelesster reads the forum and purposely does the opposite just to rile you up...
Tonight we play the coach many thought should be in Q's place. Some good match-ups tonight, Lopez usually gives Ben the business and I expect NOTHING to change tonight in that department. Will Daye force NJ to go with Travis Outlaw at PF early and often or will Ryan Humphrey bully Austin into early foul trouble??? How will Monroe look compared to Favors, both are 2 Big lottery picks that are going to take time....... Anybody know if Bengo is playing tonight, is Will Bynum ready to go? Stuckey was really impressive down the pre season stretch, will it continue, it is a contract year for him! I'm so pumped!!!! let's GO PISTONS!!!!!!!!
What I expect: A lot of trouble defending the paint against teams who are big at the power positions. Some moments of brilliance, since we have a lot of very high powered offensive players. Some moments of sucktitude since our guys either haven't played together much, are young in their careers or both. Getting better as the season goes along - at least until we trade a couple of older core guys, when the chemistry issues will start anew. What I hope for at seasons end: Breakthrough performances from Stuckey and Daye, JJ returning at full strength, Monroe starting to come on via a successful albeit slow start to his career. Anything good after that would be gravy and groovy.
