These two wins will bring us back to .500 and the 5th spot in the East.

This game started so slow we didn't think either team would hit 80, let alone 90. The Hawks led 15-13 at the end of one. Stuckey got the Pistons going in the second and at one point Mo had him, Dre, Gigi, Silva and Singler out there and they actually got the Pistons out to a 27-21 lead before the starters for both teams came in and slowed the Pistons down on both the defensive and offensive end.

Mo used the funky line up again to start the 4th this time with Jorts, Gigi and Singler as our front court and Stuckey and Pope in the back court. But the 1 for 9 Pope was stinking it up and Stuckey was turning it over and before Mo could swap out the bogus front court for the real front court, somebody sent message down the bench that Prince Fielder had been traded and the Pistons in an act of disbelief or sympathy stop playing and Mo was so upset he got thrown out.

Stuckey was OK in the first half but a disaster in the second. He scored most of those 18 points in the first half and most of t he 5 turnovers second half and fouled out. He is the Jeckyl and Hyde of the Pistons, he had his great game last night and only a subpar one tonight. Lets hope in the rematch Friday he resurfaces and plays like he did vs the Knicks last night.

Gigi, and Siva held serve while they played in both the 2nd and 4th qtrs. No stats to get excited about other than their +/- (12 and 11)

Josh Smith wasn't the homecoming king that he thought he would be. 5 of 15 shots, 11 points and 6 boards......Greg Monroe was even worst with 7-4-4. Dre got his sixth straight double-double, but the big three as a whole were held in check by Horford and Milsap and believe it or not Ashton Kutcher Kyle Korver.. who blocked one of Monroe's shot attempts. Greg Kelser stated at the beginning of the game that Piston Bigs should be OK as there were no shot blockers on the Hawks team.....well the Hawks blocked 8 Piston prayers.

Pope started again at the 2.....dude still can't find his range 1-9 shooting and 0-6 from beyond the arc......yep he is coded as a SG -shooting guard but so far he has shot over 40% only twice in the 9 games he has appeared in. He needs to figure out way to drive stop and pop...because that jumper/stationary shot is about as bad as Dre's FT shooting.

Ok how about Mr. Jennings.....21 points.......on 21 shots. I think he missed all but one of his first 7. Then he hit about 3 buckets in row including 2 threes in the third when it appeared that the Pistons were ready to separate themselves from the Hawks, but nope...the Fielder announcement just threw off the whole team...and 74-72 Hawks lead ballooned to 82-74 in 3 minutes....:crying:

Ugly game in the end. If we could defend the PR we would have won. Not too impressed with the job this coaching staff is doing.

I know this may not be a popular thing to say, but the genius behind the title was Carlisle, and then Brown. Since then, Dumars hasn't been able to put together anything magical.

Good grief! We were awful tonight on offense, it was going to be tough sledding with our poor execution AND woeful shooting. Pope, Jennings, Singler and GiGi were just awful.

However the worst part about tonight was the putrid defense of Monroe and Jennings. Something HAS to be done about these 2.

Monroe is easily the worst defender on this team. He simply cannot move his feet at all.

Well, I look at this as an energy failure. Caused by the coach. Sure, Singler was plus well, but it was not from his play. Yes, he was not the only problem on defense, but he gave up a whole lot of easy buckets to Atlanta, meaning Atlanta often had to spend zero energy to score. Jennings played all the 2nd half up til half way thru the 4th. And Stuckey was along side him for much of that time. And they did some good things there. Jennings hit some shots for sure. But our front line was busy giving up anything we got. Coach went a bit nuts in this one, believing that Singler and Datome was not bad enough so he added in Harrelson. Harrelson hit that 3, but was otherwise invisible. And Datome? He would have to hit every shot he took to begin to make up for his lack of D. Anyway, here we have Jennings expending all his energy for naught, then sitting just prior to crunch time. Very bad timing by the coach.

Of note, we went away from the Stuckey - Pope backcourt. No reason. Siva did play, great, but we could have went to Stuckey - Pope for a while in the 2nd half. Stuckey did look ok in the first half, as a shooting guard, but he could have contributed just as much in the 2nd half by switching him to point guard for a bit. (And resting Jennings properly for the stretch run. As played, along side Jennings, he does nothing to add energy to the game.)

Even though we started off poorly on offense, well, it was just 7-9 when Stuckey came in in the first quarter. We had righted the ship after a weak start - Stuckey rescued noone. And note our defense was pretty darn solid to start the game, and the first quarter saw very little scoring from either side.

Pope's stat line looks really bad, but you got to factor in he took a series of desperation shots at the end of the game when we were way behind and someone had to nail a three. Hey, he still shot bad without that, but its not like Pope was hurting us in this game by his shooting. Just not the case, and his defense was very solid.

Can't think of much else to say. Just need a coach who wants to win, rather than keep trying to prove that Singler can be hid into any successful NBA team. No matter who Singler guards, that person burns us. Singler is too slow to guard guards, and too small to guard any front line players in this league.

I'm going to agree with Rosoce, something needs to be done about Monroe. I don't think I have ever watched a game and thought, that guy had a really positive defensive impact. He is the Kevin Love of yesteryear, a stat sheet stuffer who doesn't really help the team win games. Which is disappointing as he is so talented.

In the post game Stac talked about putting out the first 2 fires in the pick and roll.
#1. Jennings gets hung up waaaay too easily on picks, it's like he doesn't even try to avoid or fight through the pick. And then, he doesn't even attempt to get to his man after he's been picked....it's like he just gives up on the entire defensive possession as soon as the screener touches him; I swear I think the guy purposefully ran into about 4 picks just so he would have an excuse as to why his defense sucks.

#2. The big (Monroe) has to help the guard with a strong hedge, which Monroe NEVER does! But it's not as if Josh or Dre do it either....but Monroe is the worst!

#3. Everybody (especially the big and the Guard) needs to bust their butt to either (a) get back to their own man or (b) cover for the teammate(s) that covered for them. But again, Monroe and Jennings do none of this! Tonight the coach should put a video together and label it- what not to do.

Monroe plays it like he thinks he supposed to try and disrupt his teammate who is getting picked. He stands slightly behind the pickee as another impediment to fighting through the pick.

That game was a snoozer. I was out by the end of the 4th.

The Hawks announcers are pretty bad. 'Nique is a couple of inadvertent elbows in pickup hoops from entering the Austin Carr zone of unintelligible ramblings.

This was like a return to the Buffoonery Era with the way the Hawks announcers were laughing at the Pistons P&R defense.

There are a gazillion different ways to defend the pick-and-roll. Perhaps Pistons' bigs are instructed not to hedge.
