Said it before, I'll say it again, we have 4 really good guards on this team that can drop 20-25 on any given night, add a CharlieV to the mix, sprinkle in an occassional post move from KB, some catch and finishes from Wilcox and Max with a hustle play or two from Big Ben.........I think we're better than most people realize.
Our top rebounder only played 13 minutes. I'll be cautious til the season starts. Just like the Lions......
I think Kuester is what this team needed. A coach who is more concerned with coaching than locker room dynamics. Less concerned with playing vets or playing guys Joe likes. Someone concerned with the team getting better each game. I was very impressed to read about the open practice.
Actually I did. It was a pretty good crowd. Ben Wallace had the most applause on his intro. Team is starting to gell. Lot of crisp passes and an emphasis to increase tempo. Some of the young guys , and Kwame, sometimes struggle to keep up but they are making progress. Kwame blew an easy bunny on a on the dime pass from Ben Wallace, perhaps he is not used playing with such a gifted passer at the 4. Defense is a little better than I thought. More of a team effort. I thought Jerebko was bit of a step behind on D and more offensively gifted which was the opposite of what I was expecting. Going to put up a lot of points this year and I don't know how they are going to find enough time for Bynum but he may prove too valuable not to find a way. Rip is back to his old self ( from 2 years ago ) and Gordon had another 20+ game complete with a near mid-court shot to close out the half. I think Gordon can work at the point. They had him playing there for stretches. Stuckey is continuing to put up points but seems to view himself as the 1st option more than one would like out of a starting PG.
Ben Gordon 50% FG (6-12), 50% 3PT (3-6) Just thought that since people will surely bring it up when he shoots poorly, we should give him props when he shoots it well.
It's not fair that some games are not being televised. This one was a thriller and it was a preseason game :rant2:
Looks like the only Piston preseason games scheduled to be televised is the one this Thursday vs Dallas on NBA TV and then one on 10/23 on FSD vs Milwaukee
On the bright side, CV will be back by the time they start showing the games. Plus if the network only has enough resources to show 1/2 of the pre-season then it's better to show the 2nd half when the rotations start resembling more of what they will be. They will show all the reg season games.
