Pistons pick this year at #15, - Austin Daye! Feel free to add stats, bios, interviews and videos to this thread.
Based on thetidbits below, he maybe raw in terms of physique, but he's a shooter. A very tall shooter. And you can't go wrong with shooters.Assuming the info is accurate, for that reason alone, I'll go out on a limb and say he has a higher ceiling than Tay. That and he has, dare I say it, Pistons DNA. Humble. No illusions of grandeur. Prepared to work hard. RealGM Analysis: In terms of offensive potential, Austin Daye has as much of it as any other member of this class and could be its purest shooter behind Stephen Curry. Daye has a compact and quick release on his jumper that is really a thing of beauty. He has plenty of negatives that will be difficult for him to overcome, but as a shooter, Daye could become a legend given his height. He will consistently hit open spot-up looks all day long, but he is also an excellent shooter off the dribble. Most really good shooters hit the age of 25 or 26 before they develop true accuracy when shooting off the dribble, but Daye is already there. He also has enough skill with the handle where he can lose his man in order to create an open.

MAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannn!!! Once I saw the Amare going to golden state deal, I knew what was coming next. Phoenix...dang.
Reminds me of Tayshaun. But, with Earl Clark off the board, I'm fine with this pick. Just happy the Pistons didn't grab Mullens.
Thank god, so glad we didn't take B.J Mullens! Austin Daye sounds like he has alot of potential, I like the fact they're touting him as a pure shooter too.
I think anytime you get a chance to add the weakest, slowest and least athletic of all the prospective draftees to your team then you have to make that move. All they need now is a few more guards who don't pass, shoot or dribble all that well and they can be stuck on one side of the floor for another 6-8 years. I heard he tested through the roof though at holding the ball out by his side while standing there. Welcome to 1955.
This is the one guy I didn't want. I thought this would be the year I didn't get upset on draft night.

I love the pick, to be honest with you. This team needs shooting, Detroit's one of the fattest cities in America, and Austin's favorite players are Tayshaun Prince and Dirk Nowitzki. Hopefully he'll be their love-child as a player. Excellent shooter.
Is this for real? From an interview or something? Daye seems fine to me, some NBA trainers and dietitians will have him looking a little healthier by 2010 at least. And his shot really does look sweet.
I love Daye. His biggest weakness seems to be that he's thrived on natural ability without ever hitting a weight room. We've seen how that worked with Tay, now if we can get Kander to develop some frozen bananna dumbells and bulk the kid up, he's a future hall of famer.
Everyone is entitled ... and we weren't likely to pickup a mjor contributor in this draft but man what a major dissapointment landing Twiggies twin brother... Does he get to play when LeBron sits out for 4 minutes? From Yahoo... " New Jersey hosted a massive workout over three days, inviting a whole slate of first round prospects and just about every NBA front office. Who stole the show? Austin Daye's fat lip. Or bloody lip, actually. Israeli prospect Omri Casspi reportedly manhandled the twiggy Daye in 5-on-5 competition. DraftExpress reported Daye ended up with a cut lip requiring stitches." He's getting his ass kicked by a Euro already. He was just in a chat... someone asked if steroids was an option :^) Daye flavored Koolaide
I don't know about anyone else, but after all Joe D's screwups in the draft I'm ready to see someone take over at least that part of his responsibilities. Obviously it remains to be seen just what will happen with this years draft class but I have a hard time believing anyone will step up and contribute this year, unless Daye somehow manages to pack on 20-30 pounds of muscle before the season starts, that is. As it stands now, a PG could post him up with ease at 190lbs.
