Detroit Pistons target McDyess, Bass as third free agent - Full-Court Press

Looks like this guy may be a good pickup for the Pistons. The only problem, we can't sign both McDyess and him.

A 6'8" 250lb PF who is supposedly a beast with a nice mid range shot may not be bad. I love McDyess and probably won't be a huge drop off between him and Bass, however, Bass is only 24ish and is still developing.

At this point Bass may be the better option. I prefer that we sign Dyess if only due to my loyalties but Bass is young and developing nicely as are our other two signees.

    Dyess can play Center.

Bass has had some nasty dunks on us in the past. (J-Max specifically)

    Either sounds fine.

I really feel like Dyess should get out of here for his own sake. He's only going to be good for another year or so and that probably will be wasted here.

McDyess needs to sign with a contender, seriously. I think I can speak for the entire Piston fan base with: we all greatly appreciate his hard work and dedication to the Pistons. But we should go after Bass, he's a lot younger. There are contenders who would love to have Dyess.

    I agree.
Plus it'll give us another team to root for while the Pistons are "in transition".

Bass is a 15 & 8 guy projected to 36 MPG. He's definitely worth the money mentioned in the article. He's a more complete, taller version of Max who can shoot free throws. Seems to overlap with CV quite a bit though.

Bass, obviously because of the age difference.

I love Dice, but he deserves a ring and he needs to move to a team that has a chance of winning.

Gotta go with Bass because of the age and potential for improvement. This guy can finish with the best of them (despite his height) and his mid range jumper is money.

Let Dyess sign with one of the contenders... the man deserves a ring.

    This is refreshing to read.

How's Bass defensively? Perhaps it would be a good combination to have Bass and CV share the 4 spot.

If they sign Bass they will most likely have to deal Maxiell.

That's why he gets my vote. Dyess will only want 2 years, Bass will want 5, Bass is a small step over Max IMO.

Neither would I as I'd prefer Bass anyway. It just may not be an easy chore.

Bass is a bad-ass, but we don't need him.

And please, no, more, Dice. Are you guys seriously about a rebuild or not?

    No mas. No mas.

But we want success as well as rebuild, so need some assets that can contribute right away. :stirthepot:

Currently, Pistons don't have enough money to compete for Dyess as he's supposedly receiving MLE offers and those are in the vicinity of $5.7 mil I believe.

    Bass is like 6'7-6'8

He is not a typical center..But I would go with Bass because of age and potential...

What happened to the Pistons targeting a defensive minded center?
