We need to make sure that his last game with us is something like 30 points and 10 rebounds (even if it takes 40 FGA).

Any chance that Maggette will actually be a huge contributor this season? He can score, defend, and he's in a contract year.

I was wondering the same thing. I see all these rotations for next year and most of them don't even include Maggette's name.

If stopping the clock with personal fouls is defense, then yeah. He is great.

But think of it this way. There is some law which means that TP gets 35 minutes a game+ at the SF. So where do we put him. Unless we go all small ball and run him at the 4.

I'm happy with this trade. But I don't really care if Maggette doesn't get a second on the court.

Arnie should be able to work his leg-lifting, banana-rubbing magic on Maggette's knees and return him to his former glory. Think: Chris Webber, Tracy MacGrady, or Derrick Coleman.

One more thing on Maggette. This will be his 14th season in the league and he's only seen the playoffs once.

    He's either hungry or malnourished.

    Some Maggette "highlights":

The guy does attack the paint a lot still. On offense, he is like Stuckey with a jump shot. This was from this past season.

I'm not a big fan of Maggette - he has a 'me first' mentality and if he isn't starting he will be a black hole on offense with the 2nd unit trying to prove he is worth another decent contract in a contract year. I'd prefer to see the 2nd unit play un-selfish team basketball, but most posessions will end up with a Maggette jumper or free throw.

That said, he will probably be dinged up half the season, so I don't see the coaching staff giving him a hugely important role hopefully.

He'd be the same black hole if he starts, he's never been a good player. His big numbers comes from the amount of possessions he uses. I hope he won't play for the Pistons.

You know what's funny? While we still need Tay for "leadership".........Maggette is actually the more talented player. You know that 15ppg season we've been waiting on from Tay for his WHOLE CAREER, that's an easy walk in the park for Maggette.

Maggette is more of a slasher and not afraid to go the hoop...where was we have seen Taysolater try to back down his player for the last 3-4 years only to take a bad shot or pass the rock with the 2 seconds left on the clock. I don't think Tay averaged more than 4 FT a game the last two seasons.....as he seem to have backed off in attacking the rim.....

I think you made the key point to this discussion. It is not Tay's attitude that is the biggest problem. His game just sucks.

I'm hoping that Tayshaun and Maggette balance each other out. I don't think Maggette is particularly good at pump faking, for example.

I guess Tay's motto is either 'Get better through constant repetition' or 'If they didn't fall for it this time, they will definitely go for it next time'.

But on the other hand, the forearm shiver is not exactly defense either, despite what Dexter Pittman might argue.
