Saunders was the main reason to leave, not money...
Unfortunately, he picked a wrong team, here $ was issue - maybe.

And how many ships did Flip bring?:ballchain

Whoa, whoa, whoa there. I'm advocating sucking up the bad vibes in Chicago for 5% of his lifetime in exchange for an extra few million dollars here, not going all Jerry Falwell on us.

He sacrificed what could have been a legacy in Detroit.

Its still there, but he could have done something special, only he quit believing in the possibility once LB left, so it was never to be.

Heres a toast to Big Ben.

    Wish you were here.

Sure. But a legacy and $150 American will buy you a cup of coffee at Tim Horton's. I'd prefer, on the whole, that entertainers look out for their own interests before those of their fans, the media, or the corporations they work for. I don't really give a damn what he does with the money, but I'm sure he can find something to do with it.

Ben Wallace sat on the bench during crunch time in an elimination play off game. There was no legacy in Detroit, just the same fate he suffers in Chicago, but for less money.

If there is a basketball god, Ben Wallace will be in the Hall of Fame.

I dont see many 'fros in the stands in Chicago.

Who do we have in place of Ben right now?

This current team minus Murray, Fabio, and the Poker Chip could have competed last year, could have competed for the Championship this year.

Ben would be riding off into the sunset right now. Instead he's being run out on a rail in Chi town.

Big difference in climates. I dont know if its worth a few extra million when you're already a multi-millionaire.

This thread should be called the "I Feel Sorry For Ben Thread", he is wasting away in Chicago and Paxson is trying to rid himself of a bad deal that should have never been consumated in the first place.

No Ben Wallace in or at the Allstar Game yesterday, "What Gives". Imagine those years he played with the Pistons, he was in the Allstar game almost every year.

Most people feel sorry for Ben when they consider where he was just a short time ago.

Any chance we ever get him back?

Would Chicago eat part of that contract?

Do we even want him back (Would he actually be of use?)

Maybe one of those cheesy "one-day contract" situations so he can retire a Piston.

I think thats a possibility at some point in the future after his contract ends. Similiar to how Mahorn was brought back in 1996.

No chance whatsoever with Saunders here.

as much as i am grateful for his past, its time to move on... the only way he's be productive for us now is in a limited min play say 20 mins a game and probably off the bench as an energy player and I don't think his ego would take that.

Sadly he's the opposite of the other Wallace we have, Rasheed is going to be a solid player for years because of the skills he has, compared to the athletic freak that ben was.

I can remember arguing adamantly about Rasheed being the better defender of the 2 Wallaces. Folk called me crazy, but Sheed's skill set was/is off the charts. All that said, what Ben was able to do was Amazing, Ben was/is a Piston. As far as I'm concerned, he DID build a LEGACY!!! His jersey should hang from the rafters one day. Ben is every bit Detroit Basketball as Bill Laimberr IMO. But we are better off RIGHT NOW without Ben and that contract. He could not have stayed for less money. It was about Saunders, the team was headed in a different direction, for better or worse is still TBD.
