Re: A Disgruntled Ben Wallace/What a Shame Well, 2006 - 1988 = 18 years = "almost 20 years," like I said at first. I'm no master of Michigan geography, but trust me, I dominate the paint when it comes to math, so don't bring that stuff into the lane--not even those crazy Buddha fadeaway stylings will get it done! ;)
Re: A Disgruntled Ben Wallace/What a Shame I wouldn't say definitive. its just my opinion. And McCoskey is a fantastic writer / reporter and doesn't need to steal forum tidbits for insightful articles.
Re: A Disgruntled Ben Wallace/What a Shame Let’s take Luke S’s (is this the original Slippy/) description of Ben – the basketball player - and combine it with a point alluded to by Food4thot. Ben is who he is – and Bull’s management knew that (or should have known that). They, Bull’s management, let this happen on their watch. It’s their fault, not Ben’s. Ben was paid to come play basketball – and bring all the tangible and intangible stuff he brings. It’s management’s job to manage. Everyone’s said “Well, Ben should have known the rule and handled it more professionally”. Ben plays basketball for goodness sake. It is management’s job to foresee that there could be a conflict between Ben and this rule. They should have addressed it before the season. Instead, they’re blaming Ben for not approaching them. THEY SHOULD HAVE APPROACED BEN. Management has to shoulder the responsibility for not handling this issue proactively.
Re: A Disgruntled Ben Wallace/What a Shame It is a lot of nonsense KP. The Detroit market tries to bury a guy they rode to a lot of financial success (think marketing, not wins), and the Chicago market is happpy to exploit Wallace when it comes to ticket sales and promotional advertising, but not to celebrate his individuality on the court. Both sides are wrong, but Ben has a guaranteed deal.
Re: A Disgruntled Ben Wallace/What a Shame You're absolutely right....what the heck am I trying to defend Ben for....he's solid and having a merrier christmas than I.:nerd2: You guys go right ahead and malign him all you want....enjoy! ...he's still my favorite Piston
Re: A Disgruntled Ben Wallace/What a Shame Sounds like Ben is banged up FOX Sports - NBA - New twist in Wallace saga after win
Re: A Disgruntled Ben Wallace/What a Shame Thought I was safe taking a shot given the name change and all.
Re: A Disgruntled Ben Wallace/What a Shame Ben . . . the love and hate epic, a great and profound post by Slippy. Cool. But I just can't understand who is the beneficiary of this whole Ben's craps. WE're going to have live game on screen to-morrow morniing, no, it's to-night for you guys, but your know i's our office hour so . . .
Re: A Disgruntled Ben Wallace/What a Shame I don't know, looks a little charred there. Its gotten blown up at the end of every movie.
Re: A Disgruntled Ben Wallace/What a Shame CHICAGO (AP) -- Now that the Bulls put all that silliness behind them and made Ben Wallace take off the headband, it's time they faced up to the real problem. That would be the one between his ears. Headband lifted, Big Ben chimes in at last - NBA - Yahoo! Sports
Re: A Disgruntled Ben Wallace/What a Shame Ben needs to talk to Tim Thomas before he aggravates the management in Chicago any further. In the Tim Thomas situation the Bulls paid him 14mil last year and told him to stay home. How stupid is that. Chicago is not going to tolerate Ben's insubordination. He got some breaks from Carlisle, Brown and Saunders here in Detroit, but thats not going to happen in Chicago. Ben needs to find another outlet for his emotions before he makes his situation any worse. I do not like Scott Skiles, but the headband thing was not his rule, it was the GM. Ben needs to deal with the fact that his skills are going to decrease, his playing time is going to decrease, he is not going to call the shots in Chicago and he should move on with his life. He should enjoy the security and power that 60 million can bring and enjoy his new baby and the rest of his family.
