Bdl, the mistake was made by Joe. That's the point. Charlie is the same guy that Joe signed. There wasn't a big drop off after the signing. For Joe to amnesty a guy who is performing near career high figures would be admitting a big mistake. Doesn't seem like he's capable of that.

    Gotcha.
My appologies for not giving my fellow forum members enough credit.
I was under the impression that everyone's eyes were getting glazed over while they watch the likes of Daye and BoT play NBA quality basketball for a 10 game stretch. For me, it takes much longer than 1/4 of a season to UN-do what has been done over the last 3 seasons.
I have hope for Austin Daye. If he can manage to acquire all of the missing attributes that the Lion, Scarecrow and Tin Man were missing in the Wizzard of Oz, he can be an amazing player!
As far as Chuck goes, he could start playing PF like Timmy Duncan for the rest of the season and I still couldn't forgive him for what he's given us up til now.

I disagree on the point that Joe doesn't seem capable of admitting his mistakes. He did it with Darko and more recently Ben Gordon. I think Joe realizes that convincing Gorez to pony up some amnesty money for Chuckles would be seen as 'positive' by the fans.
Admitting a mistake and doing what you can to recover from it is an admirable quality.
Pretending that mistake doesn't exist is not.

If the Turdster can continue dominating playing like an NBA player on offense and Joe can manage to distract opposing scouts with large tubs of popcorn while the Chuckster "does his thing" on the defensive end, maybe Joe won't have to consider using the amnesty clause. Maybe, just maybe Dumards can convince some other team into a trade for BoT that doesn't have us taking back too much rubbish in return.

I'm not too sure that I'd want to let Joe amnesty a guy he signed so that he could go above the cap to sign another guy with my money if I were Gores. It's a scary proposition.

    This roster has:
the remnants of the Rip mistake
    a resigned Stuckey (mistake?)
another combo guard in Knight (part of the worst performing starting backcourt in NBA history)
a lost 1st round pick due to the Ben Gordon mistake
the Charlie mistake, an amnesty candidate
    Teen wolf
    a 6'5" starting power forward
    a recently resigned Prince

As mediocre as Charlie's all around game is, he's more effective that half of our roster right now and his weaknesses are being masked by Drummond (Joe's saving grace).

It is pretty sad that Charlie is going to be the highest paid player on the team next year if we don't sign anybody else up.

I'm guessing that the amnesty will happen when we find a FA to sign and we are confident that they will accept our offer. I'd personally rather have Charlie on the team as a bench option than not at all (if we don't use his space to sign anybody).

I agree that there isn't much of a point to deploying the "Charlie Villanueva clause" at this time.
I'd look at it as a public relations gesture at this point.

I'd rather not have him on the team than have him on the team.
I'd much rather see his minutes go to Jeb, TRG, Max or even Daye. (I won't list Macklin or Ben Wallace since they're not on the team.)

If you're saying tank, I could get with that program.

A bad public relations stunt would be amnestying cv and then seeing him catch fire with another team. We would know better, but the average fan wouldn't.

Why isn't Jerebko lumped in with all the other bad contracts? Didn't he sign a 5 year deal?

JJ only has 2 more years after this one with an option in his 2nd year. It will be interesting to see if he would forego that option for less money somewhere else in exchange for expected playing time. That is assuming that he doesn't get out of the dog house here.

I think he has served his time and is due for a Daye-like breakout. Anyway we can drop Daye to SG and pop JJ in with the bench unit?

    Bynum
    Daye
    Jerebko
    Villanueva
    Drummond

    ???

Bynum doesn't need any help dribbling and it doesn't matter if SG's drive by Daye, so why not? JJ can shoot the 3 when he's not in a slump and he was born to run.

I actually think I hate BoT more than anyone else on this forum. So don't think for a second that I am defending his lazy ass.

He could hit 500 treys back to back and I would still want him out of the team.

Also, lets be real. CV's game is offense and he is pretty damn good at it. He can put up a lot of points in a hurry if he needs to. He mails it in worse on defense than a hybrid of Maggette, Ben Gordon and 23 yr old Carmelo Anthony and thats why we hate him.

He's not a lazy defender, he is purposely conserving energy so they he can hoist more of those long 3 bombs.

He realizes that he's no better than blocko man and that the more he moves his feet, the more likely he is to hurt the team with a personal foul.

I think Charlie could be a really good defender if it weren't for his trick forearm.

You only have to lay down a few forearms and other players just stop driving on you.

I like how you called it a "throw up" instead of a "toss up." You, sir, are a word master.
