A rosy outlook is always helpful. You act as if you're cheering for the Lions.

    1. I could be the biggest optimist the world has ever known. Do you think it would help MSU on even ONE play?

    2. You know, MSU isn't THAT bad, but they do have a mental thing with scUM.

    3. I think scUM is a terrible team this year. But, today, they will somehow be good enough for one week to shame a decent Sparty squad. Usually, they have one player to get them through. Last year it was Hart. This year it may be...I dunno...the water boy...the band...someone...

4.Nemo, you're on a cold streak with your predictions lately. I wish you would pick against Sparty today!

Hopefully, the psychological monkey is off Sparty's back. When they pulled to 21-21, I felt they had a good chance. UM's offense is so horrible that they never give the "D" much time to rest. Can't blame the D today either. UM's offense is just terrible. They should hold open tryouts for QB. But I don't want it to look like I'm saying MSU won because UM is terrible. MSU is MUCH, MUCH better. They made big plays.

Congrats to MSU. Now maybe some of the Sparty faithful will see winning a Big 10 championship more important than beating UM.

    Naw, doubt it.

Nice comeback win by the Spartans today after being down all game. They are the only football team in SE Michigan that deserves cheering for with EMU, Michigan and the Lions having a combined 4-21 record between them.....and the team that gets paid for a living does not have any of those 4 victories.

Yeah, right after that lady announcer was like..."Same old Sparties". A couple minutes later it was "Maybe it's NOT the same old Sparties".:bow1:

It pizzzed me off, but I was thinking the same thing. LOL.

Something must be changing...I mean, it was nice to see scUM lose again:icon_evil:...but I dont really care what they do now...well...not much anyhow.:heh:

    Great Sparty win. 25-24

They may get blown out by Penn State, but with two more wins they would win the big ten tie breaker (due to superior opponents). At any rate, Sparty goes to a bowl as good as last year. Another win or two...and they go to a very good or great bowl.

    Do it.
I think P State drowns like UM and O State in a big bowl. I hope they only bite off what they can chew. Get a win.

Of course the school will want the big money game.

The Sparties stole one today despite dropping a lot of passes, a few non-calls for pass interference, and without getting much room for Ringer. After going 0-3 against UM last week, Swenson was dead-solid including drilling two long field goals to win the game at the end.

This was a great win & morale victory for MSU cuz they've so often been beaten by their own mistakes. SOS is no longer.

Sparty ranked 17 in the coaches poll and 18 in the writers poll.

Assuming Penn State makes the BCS makes the title game (They are currently #2 in the polls) and OSU goes to the Rose bowl, then with an MSU victory over Purdue (and subsequent loss to Penn) it stands to reason that MSU will go to a New Year's Day Florida Bowl. (Jerry Green speculated on much of this in a Detroit News article today.

    That would be pretty good.

Now, if they beat Purdue AND Penn...which I highly doubt happens, then they go to the Rose Bowl. They said on TV that MSU wins the tiebreaker, but I haven't seen that elsewhere to confirm.

So basically, just beat Purdue and no matter what else happens it was a great season. Maybe it already was anyhow. :football: :)

I see 10-2 and a Big bowl game. Look for Spartans to Represent...The BIG TEN in the BCS game...
I can FEEL it now....We're almost there.

    Nemo,

I was sooo wrong. You said at the beginning of the season:

"Very impressed with MSU today. QB will be fine. Total team victory against ND. MSU should make some noise in the Big Ten this season.
With a bowl game, could do 9-10 victories."

I was wrong sir and you were dead on!!! :thumb:

MSU wins tiebreaker on strength of schedule.

State beating Penn is unlikely, but the Sparties tripped up #1 OSU not many years ago. Let's hope the come-from-behind yesterday was not an aberration and wills the team to crush Purdue before the trip to Happy Valley after a bye week.

Penn State loses on last second FG. Not sure how this affects Sparty. If we lose to Penn St. now, they would get the Capital One, I think, since they won't go to the BCS bowl.

I hope Dantonio and team were watching the PSU-Iowa game. Iowa ran successfully outside, something State hasn't done much with Ringer. For reasons unknown they usually run him up the middle.

If MSU beats Penn State, then OSU gets the BCS bid if it wins outright. Their tiebreaker is clobbering MSU head to head. :ner-ner:
