RIP. It is a sad loss for the Pistons organisation who gave the franchise a lot. Lets hope the Pistons win the top trophy for Bill (as well as Iverson). On a good note, he lived still 85 which is longer than the average male lifespan. RIP Bill.

    Condolences to the family.

Innovative business man who always balanced value against competition and high quality should cost you less.

Mr. Wilson has his work cut out for him. The most visible flag-ship product is resting still on stormy seas. The corporate decisions will rest with him...for the time being.

With one closure, others open up. Talks should now begin (if they haven't all ready) about getting E. Jordan on board. Bump Curry up into administration. This should be the flag-ship's first goal.

private built stadium that 20 years after it was built is still one of the best in the league, first team with a private jet.... the man wasn't nearly as cheap as us the fans would like to make him out to be. Not crazy with his money, but not cheap either... he was a great man of business that gave us team that we all can be proud of and will be missed.

last fall when they did a review of last years season they mentioned that all arrangements had been made for the team to remain in the family and move on after mr davidison was unable to lead. So I asume in the short term there will be few if any changes, long term who knows.

Take note W.C.F., how will YOU be remembered?

Not too late to change your ways, Ebeneezer.

Not nearly as well known outside of Detroit as Pittsburgh's Rooney's are, but just as much a class act owner as they are.

Even R.C. had nice things to say about him:

"“Obviously it’s difficult news for those of us that knew him and for his family, but he lived a very rich life and helped untold thousands, and probably millions of people with all of his philanthropic things which frankly he never wanted anybody to talk about,” said Dallas coach Rick Carlisle, who coached the Pistons for two seasons. “So it was an incredible life that he lived.”

It's funny to hear D Stern say that he had great views to offer the L on officiating considering how his team gets the short end game after game.

13% IRR over a 35 year period on just the capital gain alone (doesn't even count the profits along the way)? Now that's a good investment.

Plus, it was probably one of the most enjoyable investments and created a second family for him and many others associated with the organization.

Very impressive. People forget that the NBA wasn't even guaranteed to survive in 1974.

I'm pretty sure that is the type of eulogy Bill would want. Well, maybe just a mention of it without all of the actual numbers.

All I'm trying to say is that he was a good business man. He knew a good investment when he saw it, even when nobody else agreed with him.

I hope the new owners continue the Pistons success and maybe go over the Lux Tax, but with this economy I doubt it.
