Well, if this is correct, at least this time they are actually conducting an honest search for a head coach and not just anointing the next in succession.

Chuck Daly (RIP) was a mentor to Joe D. and Daly spoke very highly of Bill Laimbeer's potential to be a great coach. I think he said something like "He is going to make a GM look very smart". (I can't remember the exact words). Joe...listen to Chuck, damnit!!!!

Looks like they waived Oberto too. So thats 1.8m more that the pistons are playing for someone who doesn't work.

If we don't sign him up to coach the team, we should sign him up as a backup big man. This guy routinely hits half court shots under pressure.

(by the way, I think she is actually mocking Chaunce)

Damn!! It looks now as if I jumped the gun. On my home page on MSN,
it said "Bill Laimbeer tapped to Coach the Pistons" and I jumped right
away to Pistons.com to tell everybody.

But I went back and oened that article and it us just talking about how
he has been contacted and how he would be bad for the NBA and crap
    like that.

Sorry, my feelings made me jump the gun. But I hope it turns out to
    be right.

Here is my attempt to submit the item:

that's weird, even though Oberto sucks, we're sort of missing any frontcourt center presence other than Kwame Brown at this point. I really hope he's got some more deals up his sleeve.

Just in case people do not go back and reread my previous post since I
edited it, here is the article again.

Bill Laimbeer Tapped to Replace Michael Curry

On my computer I had to cut and paste it into the search bar to make it work.

Actually, Laimbeer sucked at the half-courter in this contest. I think he would be better at a Ticking-Off-The-Opposing-Fans Contest.

    What are you doing posting?

Shouldn't you be getting ready for your job interview?

I wonder if Joe will really be amazed by Bill's interview.

Some of us Piston fans have wanted Laimbeer given the chance ever since LB got booted. Since then, Joe has picked two consecutive coaches that couldn't handle the locker room. Joe can't afford a 3rd strike lest the Piston fan base start calling for his head.

If Joe is smart, I expect Bill will be signed shortly.

Is it a fair argument to say that Joe should hire Bill if the majority of fans want to see it?

Even if he thinks that there might be a better candidate?

How much does or should the paying customer's wishes affect the decisions?

    Hopefully not much or often.

As a whole, we are usually dead wrong. IMO.

The only thing that makes us look good is the shotgun approach. :)
