MJ, Zeke, Barkley, Magic, Malone, Bird; ...those guys were more cut-throat/competitive.
With the exception of Magic, these guys could care less whether fans liked them. They just wanted to win.

I still view James and Wade as whiney jerks.
LeBron wants to be liked so he seems to be coming off as a bit more fake diplomatic lately.
    ...whatever.

LeBron SEEMS like a nicer guy. Let's wait for his HOF induction speech to be sure though (provided he gets in).

He's already in....we just don't know it yet, they have already have his spot reserved where his plaque will go. They already have Shaq's spot ready too. Remember some of those goof ball voters voted Shaq one of the 50 greatest NBA players of all time in only his 4th year.:bs: Maybe because he lead the Magic to finals one year and the EC finals twice?

You are right in that superstars will always get calls but it has gotten a lot better. There is no way they could get away with something like the 1992 ECF Bulls/Pistons now. or that phantom call on Lamb in 88 Finals or the Sac/LA game. I would even venture the say that Jordan had a +5PPG advantage due to calls over a superstar playing now.

By nice I mean they are more watchable. I had a strong urge to put my fist through the tv back in the Jordan days.

You may just be mellowing with age. Some of the calls that Wade got in 2006 were as outrageous and egregious as anything that Jordan or Laimbeer delt with.

I agree though that since the gambling ref scandal things have gotten much better.

Yes good point they were bad. But not as bad I think as the 80's/90's. And 2011 was pretty clean when Dallas beat them.
