    Wow!

I forgot where I read that, maybe someone can find the link and post it in this thread.

I understand a new system, new coach, a new starter (Amir Johnson) however, 15-20-games??

That`s almost a quarter of the season. I don`t know about evryone else but that seems like a long time for a team that has been together for some time to find its chemistry or whatever you want to call it.

Is this a fair statement by CB?

I don't care if it takes them 82 games as long as they make the playoffs and have it all clicking by then.

He is basically giving you an excuse if they are under .500 after 15-20 games...

Look at the teams the play during the opening month where they could possibly win their first 5 and lose the next seven and then win their final four..:mmph:...They head west after six games probably still trying to identify who will be the 8th, 9th and 10th man in the rottion.

7 of the first 10 games are on the road...and not some friendly arenas...

That is a tough stretch of 7 there in the middle.

It's hard to know what Billups' definition of consistency is. I'm just going to ignore it.

This is why Billups annoys me so much, he is ALREADY making excuses for the Pistons possibly underachieving. I've felt since the end of last year's playoffs that Billups and Sheed are the two most responsible for the Pistons playoff demises the last couple years and a lot of that is entirely based on their attitudes and not their talent levels.

It's definitely hard to tell what he means by consistency. But 15-20 games is kinda long but doesn't mean they are not going to lose each game or most of those games. We've seen them very inconsistent after they won the 'Ship in the 04-05 season when they won one game and then lose the next and after thirty-three games they were 17-16. I don't think he's making an excuse for the team underachieving, they haven't underachieved anything because the season hasn't started. I think he's tell us fans the truth by saying that, we have a new coach, new system, and also new players. It might take that long to get some consistency.

I think you're right. Let's try to let cooler heads prevail on this one.

I hate to admit this and make a fool of myself but I do not know what consitency is. Billups says it will take 15-20 games before we see it. What does it look like? I just want to be looking out for something I didn't even know existed. I feel so embarrassed ...

Seems that for some expectations were high and Bup Bup's words are too "harsh" for them.

It is what I expected, actually... Rookie coach, new roles, new plays, etc.

Admitting that road may be tough is not looking for excuses...

This attitude is much better than "been there, seen that, don't worry, coach".

Remember, even during slumps after title Billups NEVER admitted that rough times are at hand.

Agree with both Rax and Billups here...the schedule is tougher than usual with all of those road games and three of the first 12 games vs the NBA finalists. The Pistons were 14-6 thru 20 last year and 13-7 through first 20 in the previous season.

With older vets, a new coach and his guarantee of playing the young studs it could be 25 games before everything really kicks into gear. I am OK with that as long as they play .700 ball the rest of the season and have the number 1 or 2 seed entering the post season. :nailbiting:

If CB was over confident, then we could have that we are-better-and-will-turn-it-on-when-needed-attitude. For him to come out and say that they are a work in progress mode just means that there is possibly the big head has shrunken:stupid:

i don't see the problem either...it's probably going to take even longer for the team to gel, because 15-20 games is *not* that large of a sample size. new coach, new 5th starter, new roles, new offensive and defensive schemes. it's going to take some time.

I bet he just doesn't feel like they know the new offense inside out at this point. They are probably still thinking instead of automatically running the deeper plays.

This is what Billups is quoted as having said:

    Uhh, what's the problem? :noidea:

Yeah, what is the problem??...Absolutely nothing. At least he doesn't have that cocky, over confident attitude everyone has a problem with (that attitude is such a :messer:)!!!

Chauncey may end up making excuses until the day Stuck replaces him and probably even afterwards.:D

I guess this stetement by Billups surprises me because I am wondering who he is talking to. Any educated basketball fan would be mindful of the fact that with a new coach and several new players being inserted in the rotation would require some time to be a "well oiled machine" as CB says.

Is he turning super sensitive because of the deserved criticisim he has recieved the last couple of years? Perhaps MC has told him to use his strength to go inside and draw fouls rather than camp out at the arc this season and he needs time to adjust to that new role.

Note to CB, just play within your means, to your strengths and in the system that MC has desined for you as the floor leader of this team. And please, don`t insult our intelligence (at least here on this forum) with talk of it may take some time to become a "well oiled machine".

Prediction- CB will lead the team in TO`s the first 15-20 games.......:thumb[1]:
