Just finished reading the Mlive article on this guy. It's a good read. Should the Pistons take a chance on him at number 7 or #6? Word is out comparing his frame to Amare. Bismack is 6' 9", 242lbs with a 7 foot vertical. Not bad for a 19 year old and the first kid in the history of the Nike Camp to get a triple double. The only fear I have is the flashback of another can't miss prodigy, the one and only DM. However, if he develops into an all star and landing on another team besides the pistons, I would be pissed. So what do you do, hmmmmmm. Just the thought of guy like this playing next to Monroe is tantalizing, especially with his shot blocking and rebounding ability and he loves to live in the paint. Haven't had that around the D for awhile huh.
If I have the name right he's also had questions about his age, some think he's 24.... but I'm not sure even that is a huge red flag if he checks out in a physical. I would want a ton of effort into checking out his work effort and such, but a high flying shot blocker next to GM really would make me really happy.
I'm voting for high risk, high reward tactics. This team has nothing to lose. Already plenty of mediocre players. There WILL be at least one top 10 draft for this team in the near future anyway, after next NBA season, I guess.
Such a cool name to boot. I'm on board. I can almost hear Mason. "Buh buh buh buh buh buh buh Buhyooooooommmbbbeeeeeeeeee"
I'm on the bandwagon too. I posted an article about him a few days ago in the draft prospect-thread. Well worth reading.
This kid makes me remember a similar talent from Senegal. Malick Badiane - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Here's someone relaying one of Ford's Kool-Aid soaked snippets from back in the day concerning Malick. Insider - Ebi OK, Villanueva bombs, Badiane opens eyes - Arizona Sports Fans Network edit- everytime I read an old Chad Ford piece I think of a Kool-Aid drenched version of that little girl from The Ring climbing out of my monitor and making me pay for reading that stuff . I'd still consider drafting this new talent. Why should Joe stop now? He may as well keep rolling those dice and hope he gets hot at the right moment.
The one difference so far between darko and the kid is atleast scouts got to see him play in ONE game lol, did anybody really see Darko play in Europe besides Fords? I still want to know what his work effort will be, If darko had any sort of backbone/heart he would be a star today... he has talent but no desire to work IMO, he was rich at 17 and he had "made it".
That's the difference - heart and hustle. From all accounts, Biyombe is a high-energy, hustle player that works hard and wants to play defense. Darko wanted everything handed to him, and wasn't willing to put in the effort to be great.
I think we should compare every possible international draft pick to Darko for the rest of eternity. It seems applicable.
If not for the 15 times he broke his jaw, I think Samb really could have helped the Pistons. I wouldn't even think of drafting this kid until I see how he stacks up against a chair in a workout.
